Several reasons:

1. Free Rulebooks! (Here, if you were wondering [yes, that HS stuff is legal(the GURPS stuff isn't, but...)])

2. Better strategic options! Now, a TAG and two Dakini's, giving me three orders and awesome stuff, or a fuckton of Dakini's and a hacker, giving me a fuckton+1 orders and not as awesome stuff...?

3. More realistic rules than other, older, better known *cough*40K*cough* science-fiction wargames

4. Aleph. Because who doesn't love a hybrid of HAL, Skynet, and Cyberpunk goodness?

5. The Nomad medics (I forget the actual name). That is all.

So, yeah. Please don't flame me, 40k fans!

Also, I've actually bought the hard copy - having to ask to borrow each time got annoying. Got it reduced, which rocked. Was talking to Phil - never have 3 orders. It's not enough. One thing I'm tempted to do is get some transductor zonds (8|0 (notation for 8 points, 0 SWCs), 6-6 move, repeater. Practically unarmed, but it's an order and a missile zone for 8 points. Can't complain). I can have 1 of them and a Szalamadra TAG, makes it a neat 250|5 list. Phil even has the TAG downstairs, second hand.

Medics are called Daktari, which is Doctor is Swahili, I think. Cat people win!

Setting is nice, although I'm torn between Bakunin and Tunguska. Bakunin is the soul of the nomads, a city of chaos where every cult, fetish and pleasure has its place. Tunguska is the home of Arachne, the free internet as opposed to Maya. Also, there is a central part of Tunguska where the main data crypt is. It's protected by inviolable firewalls and such, and is called Centrum. Mother of god, do I feel a crossover campaign coming on?

...You wouldn't happen to play Aleph, would you, Nailz? If not, check 'em out! Camo-robots w/machine guns and odd-tech as basic = win!

EDIT: A crossover with Infinity? Now, that would never happen in my GURPS campaign, prompting Mahora Festival to turn into a three-way science-fiction war between two nearly-identical factions and a near-infinite swarm of 'bugs'.

Nah, mine might though. I'm running one as soon as one of you two are done.

Aleph are pretty badass, I need to remember my special rules to have a chance against them. For example, my Zeros get that -3 to be hit as well.

Also, do we have any 40k fanboys? I thought we all grew up?

We did. That doesn't necessarily mean we're any more mature, unfortunately, as 40k is still the single most popular gaem evar, to my eternal dissapointment. Besides, I think there may be one or two lurking around somewhere.

Also, GURPS campaign, as run by Spiritcurse? Count me in!

General feeling of 40k by most of /tg/ and many staff - "If 40k was released today it would have trouble standing above other popular rules systems." This makes me pleased.

Expect high tech, street gangs, fairly sandbox world, conspiracies, illuminati, psionics, and the unexpected. In roughly that order.

Can I jump on the infinity bandwagon? I feel enlightened since our small engagement this afternoon (may take me a while to grow out of the 40k however!)
I was thinking pan Oceania for my army, but still undecided at time of post

Get whatever looks cool. Each army can hold its own, don't worry. Plus, updates are done for all armies at once when a book comes out, so there's no problem with some being out of date.

I'd like to do a French only ariadna list, but for some reason on infinity pool it says I'm only allowed two instances of ariadna militia. Any explanations?

The AVA value of a troop indicates how many of that unit can be taken. Don't worry, there are enough units for a french only list, I think.

Hmm, how would you feel if I collected nomads too? Obviously the list would be very different.

I'm cool with that, just make it different somehow. For flavour and interest really.
