Having read the dark eldar codex on scribd, I was initially very impressed with all the shiny new models and rules that have made dark eldar playable once again. However, I still need convincing that this army could beat any well thought out list, as toughness three and 4+ poison just ain't gonna cut the mustard if you're playing anything with a decent armour save.
I'm very open to praise for the new codex, I think GW have done an awesome job (as always) but even with the likes of lelith hesperax, I just don't think dark eldar are viable.

My bet is that they're making all non-smurf armies un-viable so th at everyone plays them.

Well, I say:ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWA!!!

Hmm, a sad analogy, but all these first founding chapters being rereleased like blood angels and space wolves forces me to agree.

It's depressingly obvious how broken the spess marine codices are, even to the point of GW admitting it. DE are not tournament viable mechanically. They only ever used to be because of the rarity - I'd win because nobody knew how to fight me. As soon as people started learning how I played, my ratio dropped from 9:1 down to 2:1.

Shame, they say the element of surprise goes pretty far! And I think agonisers are lethal against nids, you could bag all their big stuff no probs what with poisoned 4+ and no invuns on a hive tyrant/carnifex - it's just no one plays ids, they play blood angels (for good reason) or other marines.

If it wears power armour, it's easymode to be honest. Good way of judging armies, that. Plus, BA have some nicely broken heroes, compare them to the DE ones. Point for point, DE may as well not play.

Idk, vet with retinue of I improve your poison to 2+ would be very Killy to blood angel champions, what about all the 'i kill your character in one if he fails a strength test'
Off the top of my head I think a casket of flensing does the trick, but that's haemonuculus (know I've spelt that wrong) only.
In any case DE have that many nasty tricks up their sleeve that I reckon with a couple of pain tokens they could take BA in combat, plus it's only 65 points for a succubus who can take agonisers and have like 5 attacks, I'll take one for each Wych squad! Smile

Problem is, BA are good right off the bat. DE need to power up for the first few turns, then the survivors can just about take them. Mathhammer for the win!

I still think new dark eldar special items are the key to their victory against marines, but you're right, dark eldar are good at the long game as they overcharge so massively with power from pain!

Which means that, once again, they work wonderfully well in a team. Odd, that.

You know, in order to balance this all out, I think GW should bring back the Squats!

The Sanguinor is capable of crushing Bloodthirsters/Daemon Princes alike. But 275 points. Fuck.

I have a feeling all our questions will be answered in february's white dwarf, which boasts a DE vs Blood Angels battle report. You heard it here first!
