Planeswalker Hijinks

Post by Spiritcurse on Thu May 12, 2011 12:45 pm

I just got Sorin Markov up to 2361 loyalty counters in a proper (as in, with a human opponent) game. Glider Bairn with Heavy Arbalest and Whispersilk cloak, sat behind a wall of counterspells. Second trick was Leyline of Anticipation and Venser's Journal. Third trick was flicking the Arbalest onto a Solation when I had enough loyalty, then ripping him down with 28 damage in blocks of 2 every turn.

But yeah, Sorin, Glider Bairn, Heavy Arbalest, and a whole load of draw/hand extension cards. My new deck is hilarious. Anyone else got anything new?

Ok, that is good. Now, here's something that might not be better but is goddamn hillarious: Echo Mages. BILLIONS of them. You get them, all (No joke) 16 of them, by casting Rite of Replication on it. Kicked. Then using it's ability to duplicate the spell and cast it on the Echo Mage. Then, you cast a spell. Any spell. Say, for example, Sanguine Bond. Get 32 free instances of it. Cast Corrupt, with 4 swamps. Get 32 free instances of it. Deal 4 damage per Corrupt (ttl: 132 damage) and heal the same. Them deal that 33 times to an opponent. I'm sorry, what was that? I can't hear you over the sound of butthurt.

The other thing I pulled off in that deck was Venser's Journal, Thought Reflection, and a Solation with Optical Halo on. Tap, draw 2 cards. Uptap for 1. Repeat. Each upkeep, gaining 20 life just for having a huge hand. Ended up having to play Null Profusion and stop playing cards, so I wouldn't deck out. Next thing I want is Island Sanctuary - I can decline to draw a card in my draw step. If I do, I can't be attacked except by flying or islandwalkers.

What's wrong with "Okay, it's your turn. You tap all your lands and end your turn"?

It's easy. Any anti-artifact can take out the cloak, and then deal with it by normal removal means. It's difficult to take out the planeswalker once I have it out through damage - there's no real limit to the number of counters. You'd also want Sen Triplets to be gone, since that gives me some lovely intel, and also effectively stops you from stopping me. So yeah, don't let the Triplets come down, and if they do, kill them fast.

Tempting, since I have Khalni Gem for the mana colouring. Few more multicoloured lands, I reckon it could work quite well.

It is done. A deck designed to say "Fuck you, I am activating the ultimates of 10 different planewalkers. One of them is Nissa. I don't have any elves. Why? Fuck you, that's why. Now, my mountains tap for damage, I summon no elves, mill 20, I take your next turn, my shit is indestructible, 10 to you and your stuff, my artifacts are 5/5s, my shit has +3/+3 and trample, I raise all dead as mine, and a 6/6 gideon wants to say hi."

Who'd forfeit? If not, their turn. They tap all their lands and end their turn. My go. My mountains tap for damage, I summon no elves, mill 20, I take your next turn, my shit is indestructible, 10 to you and your stuff, my artifacts are 5/5s, my shit has +3/+3 and trample, I raise all dead as mine, and a 6/6 gideon wants to say hi. And repeat.

There is no card in the deck that isn't a combo, planeswalker, draw spell, or counterspell. Also, it's 5 colours, 2 of each. Fuck multicoloured 'walkers.

Commander event on sunday - I'm entering. £20, you get given a deck worth £25. Needless to say, after the event will be a Commander Planechase Archenemy match. Because why the fuck not?

You get to keep the deck? If so, nice. If not, well, then. Also, I shall be there on Sunday, so I will most likely be playing in the horrific match of horrificness. The Commander Archenemy Planechase one, not anything involving Spirit's mill deck.

Yep, you do get to keep the deck as far as I know. And what's wrong with my mill deck? It's fun!

What's wrong with your mill deck? What's right with it!? It's the single most annoying piece of shit ever! Well, maybe not as annoying as the deck I intend to build with which 4.8 million damage will be a possibility, and it might be able to hit infinite damage if I can find the right card. Fun times!

Also, nice, I am now entering.

In what way is it horrible? Sure, it mills for technically infinite cards. Sure, it resets the graveyard every so often so it can do it again. Sure, it's absolutely brutal in a 2 headed giant.

Failing that, I'll get you a few more combos up here when I get round to it, we can have a laugh with trying to get them out in Commander/EDH. I'm gonna try to get the solation machine gun lockdown one in that as well.

I've got one: It involves having ONLY artifacts in your deck. Then Metalcraft, Darksteel Juggernaut, and Darksteel Forge. Everything in my deck is Indestructible, and powers that one card. Therefore, Indestructible 20/20. Very doable. And then you throw in the Infinite Myr combo and a Coat of Arms. Sorry, what was that? I can't hear you over my infinite army of infinitely powerful, indestructible creatures. Now, what was that about your everything?

Enduring Renewal (Enchantment, if your creature dies from the field, put it in hand)
Spiketail Drakeling (Creature, CMC3, sac it to counter unless they pay 2)
Aluren (Enchantment, may cast CMC<4 creatures free and as instants)
Solitary Confinement (Skip draws, sac it or discard 1 at your upkeep, you can't be targeted or dealt damage)
Squee, Goblin Nabob (Creature, in hand, in upkeep returns from grave to hand)
Priviliged Position x2 (Other permanents you control can't be targeted by enemies)
Darksteel Forge (Your artifacts are indestructible)
Mycosynth Lattice (All permanents are artifacts, everything is colourless)

Right, come at me. Lock down the fecking game state like a god dammed boss.
