Battle for Tamriel Empty Battle for Tamriel

Post by Spiritcurse Thu Dec 24, 2009 2:41 am

In the aftermath of a civil war, Tamriel is just getting back on its feet. From across the galaxy, every race swarmed to be part of it, and to have a hope of claiming it's wealth and technology.

The tendrils of chaos had wormed into the Planetary Governor's mind, and driven him mad with promises of fame, power and dominance. He raised the Imperial Guard under his dark, venomous flag, and preached hate against the Emperor and all that he stood for. From the Imperial City in Cyrodiil, he preaches his hate-fueled religion.

By far the most heresy was found in the city of Helgathe, in the Hammerfell region. A warp rift was opened, and the multiple forces of Chaos swarmed forwards, intent of claiming this world as their own, and of wiping out the last traces of the pathetic humans.

The Inquisition, the forces of the Witch and Demonhunters made planetfall at Northpoint, with the aim of ceasing this heresy and bringing the former Governor to his knees, and to the Emperor's retribution. They act swiftly from their base in High Rock, and take no prisoners.

The Dark Eldar opened a Webway Gate in the aptly named city of Archon, in the province of Black Marsh, and from there lead their lightning fast raids on the other cities, leading to spread terror and despair to the few remaining survivors, with shocking results.

Eldar soon began to swarm from the city of Greenheart, exterminating all in their path, as they sought to reclaim this maiden world from their base in the once pristine sanctuary of Valenwood. They lead their forces with skill and subtlety, attempting to annihilate all opposition in the name of Khaine.

From Dawnstar, in Skyrim came a flash of haunted green light, and the Necrons arose in mass numbers. The began capturing the Nulls in vast number, with a display of organization and effectiveness rarely seen before, even among the Necrons themselves.

In Firstheld, the Orks were stirring. Their rough landing in the Summerset Isles had stirred up their warrior spirit even more so, and they were excited for the battle ahead, and eager to cross the ocean and spread the joy of battle to even more weak 'umies.

From Vivec, in Morrowind, the Space Marine chapter sent to defend Tamriel mobilized their forces, and prepared for war on the xenos and the traitors, over the entire planet. Their Dreadnoughts and tanks were readied, and they began about the difficult task of reclaiming the planet from all comers.

The Tau were observing the battle from their base in Corinth, and had intended to avoid combat for as long as possible, but when a sneak Dark Eldar raid killed 10,000 Tau, conflict was unavoidable. They marched from Elsweyr, and prepared to avenge their fallen brethren.

Rules are simple. There are no force organization chart rules other than a minimum of 1 HQ. Points vary, but are usually 1000 points. And hell yes, massive demons, flyers and all kinds of stuff are allowed.

You start in your capital and may move 300km per game week. Water movement counts double. If you come into contact with an enemy army, you play a standard battle. The loser returns to their capital, and the winner gains 1 stratagem point. If you come into contact with an enemy city, play a cityfight mission, winner claims city, and 2 stratagem points. If you come into contact with an enemy capital, play a planetstrike or cityfight battle (defenders choice). Winner takes the city and 3 stratagem points. As soon as you lose your last city, you are out of the campaign. Last player standing wins.

Each race gets a bonus, outlined below.

Imperial Guard - when in a cityfight, all units may infiltrate.
Chaos - may teleport between own cities instead of moving.
Inquisition - when attacking a city, count as fearless for the first turn.
Dark Eldar - may re-roll their dice when rolling to steal the initiative.
Eldar - move 500km per game week instead of 300km.
Necrons - may re-roll the "We'll be back" roll when defending a city, once per turn.
Orks - may move across water as fast as on land.
Space Marines - always go first when defending their capital or attacking another's.
Tau - once per game, may fire a S10 AP1 Ordnance Barrage weapon, with 3d6 scatter.

Post if you're interested, with your army/armies.

Me and Tzeentch, group work. Needless to say, we stole the map. It'll begin shortly after Christmas, when our new shiz gets here. (My new rebel guard Smile)

Indeed, but he can ONLY be used in Apocalypse, which isn't force organisation, it's a different rule set, therefore he cannot be used unless we are explicitly playing apocalypse

And the rules have been changed slightly, for two reasons.
1) I want to see this demon.
2) I want to use my plane.

Fair enough. I'm sticking with my upgraded rebel list, although I'll have to do some point juggling once I get them.

I think we should do it like this, the battles are normal 40k (Cities of Death) For the normal battles and for the HQ/base battles we do a planetstrike battle with the person being attacked the defender with lists we have written already, (You make a different list for each base) But each player has one unchangeable attacking list for an invasion party which can get more people with experience points?

And for a giant or last base battle we do apoc? So we write an attacking list and apoc list we cannot change unless we use XP that is given for winning games or doing shit?

Good plan, but I still say cities of death should be used for cities and planetstrike for bases. For realism more than anything else.

Feel free.

And I've just realized, I can use rebels with any army - "They are treated as if they are part of the opponents [my] army list". Therefore, I think I'll just add in an Archon and play as Dark Eldar.

Indeed, I agree cities for the battles and planetstrike for the home bases, but I don't think using apoc models is a good idea, it makes it ridiculously huge and hard to do shit....
