[21:18] <@Codex> As the caravan rattles up the road to the top of the steep incline, a collection of buildings becomes visable over the peak of the hill. Farms and fields lie across the overcast landscape, and the biggest collection of buildings appears to be a small street upon which the roads approachs.
[21:18] <@Codex> This must be our destination. Morndred.
[21:19] <@Codex> "So, what're ye' hear for anyway?" The Dwarf Merchant begins, "I forgot to ask. Y'ere sure a weird lookin' bunch to be goin' to a farmer's town."
[21:20] <@Codex> He address anyone in the party willing to open up conversation.
[21:20] <Spiritcurse> "Heard a rumour an old friend of mine was up here - figured I've little else to do, may as well meet up with him."
[21:20] <Dergimil> "You're not to groomed yourself you know" He retorted gleefuly, happily yet almost without emotion.
[21:21] <Dergimil> ((I swear I haven't been watching haruhi and took the voice from one of the characters, particulary the esper))
[21:21] <@Codex> "Good a reasons as any I suppose."
[21:22] <@Codex> "There's a few troubles that could be sorted by heavily armed men such as yerselves here."
[21:22] <Dorian> "Heading out, looking to earn a bit of cash. Thought I might take up some mercenary work."
[21:25] <@Codex> "Plenty of that needed here."
[21:27] <Spiritcurse> "Hmm? There trouble in these parts?"
[21:27] <Dergimil> Gives the dwarf a half-smile and looks forward into the distance, he rearanges his belt and pack to fit more comfortably.
[21:27] <@Codex> "Aye, plenty"
[21:28] <@Codex> "The forest rages; the goblins chant rituals, even the bandits have stopped turning up because the crop is so weak from these parts."
[21:28] <Furious> I look up. "Bandits?"
[21:28] <@Codex> "There are strange fella's walking around the main street too."
[21:28] <@Codex> "Aye, bandits," the Dwarf turns,
[21:29] <Spiritcurse> "This trip could be more interesting than I'd thought."
[21:29] <@Codex> "They've given up on this road. Safe as anywhere because these poor sods just don't have enough crop to survive. It's worth fuck-all."
[21:31] <Spiritcurse> "We can probably take a look into that, once I've met my friend."
[21:31] <@Codex> "Here we are, chin-up." The Dwarf says as you pull into the main street.
[21:32] <@Codex> "I'll be here again next week if ye' need a ride to Glascone. There's some kind of taxi service there that'll get ye' home if ye' need."
[21:32] <@Codex> The Dwarf gets off of the front of the cart and starts tending his horse, looking up and down the street.
[21:32] <Dorian> "Might just take you up on that, if I can't find any work."
[21:33] <Spiritcurse> "Ah, my thanks. Good luck on your travels." I climb off the cart and collect my meager belongings.
[21:33] <@Codex> The town looks dreary and downtrodden, but considering how small it is, there's no absence of people.
[21:33] <Dergimil> "Well you're here safe now, is there anything more you require or shall I be off?"
[21:33] <@Codex> Down the street are some shops with very clear signs. One appears to be a tavern, and the rest a variety of butchers and grocery stores.
[21:34] <Furious> I rub my beard and think for a moment, before jumping up and climbing down from the cart.
[21:34] <@Codex> "Unless yer' willin' to help me unload, but there's no coin left in me for yer."
[21:35] <Spiritcurse> "I'm here to serve, of course", I reply, and begin helping him unload his cart.
[21:35] <Dorian> I groan, but give him a hand anyway.
[21:36] <@Codex> "Brilliant! Thank ye'," He waves to an approaching man with a MASSIVE dog.
[21:37] <@Codex> "I have te' talk ta Geofry over there, I'll be back to show ye' where it all goes soon."
[21:37] <Dorian> "What in the name of Baator is that dog?"
[21:37] <Spiritcurse> "Excellent, thank you." While working, I look around for my friend, hoping he'll have had the sense to watch for my cart.
[21:38] <@Codex> A piece of paper swats the swashbuckler in the face as he dismounts the cart.
[21:39] <Furious> I wave my hands around in the air like a crazy person before grabbing the paper and reading it.
[21:39] <Dergimil> "So where's the coin my dwarven friend- Oh, he's gone, well, any of you know where it is? I must depart swiftly".
[21:39] <Spiritcurse> "What's the hurry? This is a nice enough village."
[21:40] <@Codex> A cold wind blows through the street.
[21:40] <Furious> After looking at the paper I sigh and look for the nearest bar. "I guess I'd better find out where this note came from..."
[21:41] <Dorian> "Hmm? What does it say?"
[21:41] <Dergimil> "I don't stay around villages too often is all, too eerie. And for good reason it seems, wasn't it just warm a second ago?"
[21:42] <Spiritcurse> "We should probably deal with the goblin problem he mentioned. It wouldn't do for these villagers to be harmed."
[21:43] <Furious> I turn to face the Crusader and say, "Do ya really wanna know?"
[21:43] <@Codex> A LARGE dog bounds over towards the party
[21:44] <@Codex> It moves at a very high speed, even for a dog.
[21:44] <Dorian> "Of course."
[21:44] <Spiritcurse> I take a step back, slightly unnerved. "Should that be kept on a rope?"
[21:44] <Furious> I roll my eyes and pass him the note.
[21:45] <Dorian> I raise an eyebrow.
[21:45] <Dorian> "Well."
[21:45] <Spiritcurse> "Could I read that?"
[21:46] <Dorian> "You sure about that?"
[21:46] <Spiritcurse> I raise an eyebrow, chuckle, and pocket the note.
[21:47] <@Codex> The Dog leaps through the air at Kadas, as he dodges out of the way, clearly quite nimble and skilled.
[21:48] <@Codex> "'ERE YE' GREAT DUMB BASTARD, SIDDOWN"
[21:48] <@Codex> The dog immidiately turns and runs again, full pelt towards the human and Dwarf Merchant.
[21:48] <@Codex> "Sorry fella's!" The human shouts.
[21:49] <Spiritcurse> "That was far too close. Don't worry about it!" I reply, then chuckle again and reread the note closer.
[21:51] <@Codex> The Dwarf merchant approaches you all and points to a warhouse next to the street, "If ye' could throw this in here boys, that'd be lovely. I'm sure I'll be able to compensate if ye' in the tavern there if ye' stop over."
[21:52] <GC> "I exit the chapel with my trusty hound and begin to organise the chests in the back of my cart".
[21:52] <Spiritcurse> "I'm sure even a man of the cloth can enjoy a pint, right?" I wink and start carrying the chests,
[21:52] <Dergimil> "No thank you, I'd rather take my coin here and be off" he looks are the Dwarf expectingly.
[21:54] <@Codex> "There's a chapel right down the road here if that's yer' thing and the town'all is down that way too."
[21:54] <Dorian> I strech off and sit down on a crate before Kadas can pick it up.
[21:54] <@Codex> "I did say that there's no coin in it laddy."
[21:55] <Furious> I resume my search for the nearest tavern.
[21:55] <Spiritcurse> "I'm not on duty now, friend. But I suppose I could look in later."
[21:58] <@Codex> The boxes get packed away fairly quickly into the warehouse and you find yourselves walking towards the tavern with the Dwarf.
[21:58] <@Codex> Outside of the tavern is a group of about 8 girls between the ages of 8 and 14. They giggle as you walk past.
[21:59] <Dergimil> "Oh yes of course. Your other offers, while tempting to the others, are not as to me, I shall be off then" He turns while raising his hand for a short wave, before walking off toward the hill.
[21:59] <Spiritcurse> I smile and wave to the children, then head inside.
[22:02] <Furious> I glance at the girls, then enter the tavern.
[22:05] <@Codex> As you enter the tavern, a sense of warmth hits you.
[22:05] <Dorian> I give the oldest of the girls a wink, then follow Kadas and the Swashbuckler inside.
[22:05] <Dergimil> Thinks for a moment, wondering why he was walking off towards the hill, and walks towards the forest instead, his animal companion in tow.
[22:06] <@Codex> It's a greeting warmth, the has a musty smell but a real communial feeling. The Half-Orc bartender waves at you. "Hey strangers," She begins gruffly, "What'll it be?"
[22:07] <Spiritcurse> "Just water for myself, while the sun's up. After that, who knows?" I ask with a knowing wink, and then sit at the bar. After a moment's thought, I read the note again.
[22:07] <Dorian> "I'll have an ale, please, dark as you like."
[22:08] <Furious> "Make that two."
[22:09] <@Codex> "Lovely, tha--" The bartender is interupted by the Dwarf, "Make that six, It's on me." He puts down a gold coin, beaming.
[22:09] <@Codex> "Siddown lads, I'll bring 'em over."
[22:11] <Dorian> "No worries." I grin, then wander over to a table very near the Dwarf and sit down.
[22:12] <Spiritcurse> I take up a seat at the table, still puzzling over the note.
[22:15] <@Codex> As you sit down, you look around the bar, taking the the sight of the place. While it feels crowded and communal, there's a few seats left empty.
[22:17] <Spiritcurse> "So, what do we do next? I take it you gentlemen are all sellswords?"
[22:17] <Furious> I walk over and join the others at the table. "Right lads, I heard something about goblins."
[22:18] <@Codex> Kids crowd the seats near the doors with tired and relaxed looking parents. It looks like the sun is going to be down within 20 or so minutes, so everyone is winding down.
[22:18] <@Codex> The Dwarf walks over and puts down a tray filled with A few different ales. "Well, these are mine, where are yours fellas?" He follows this by bellowing a laugh.
[22:18] <GC> I enter the tavern and take a seat close to the gropu
[22:19] <Spiritcurse> "They seem far too happy. We've heard there's no food, little trade, and regular attacks, but they're all happy."
[22:20] <Dorian> "More or less. I'm actually a knight, I just don't have a lord."
[22:21] <Spiritcurse> "Have you thought about accepting Lord Pholtus?"
[22:22] <@Codex> The Dwarf waves to the Cleric as he walks in
[22:22] <Dorian> "I'm a follower of Istus, sorry."
[22:23] <GC> After overhearing the group's conversation I approach and Begin my introduction, "Why hello there Bart, are these travellers here to look at our goblin problem?"
[22:23] <Spiritcurse> "I'm here to meet a friend, but I suppose I can lend what aid I may."
[22:24] <@Codex> The Dwarf thrusts a pint of Ale into your hand. "I think they're after coin more than anything mate, I'm sure your Pelor could procure some funds for them, righ'?"
[22:25] <GC> "Clense it in richeous flames, that's what I'd do at any rate. The villeagers seem opposed to the idea on account of them living in a forest".
[22:26] <Furious> I grab a mug and take a large gulp. "I'm all for killing goblins." I let out a large belch. "Damn vermin."
[22:27] <GC> "I'm sure we could fund an effort if it were to bring rebirth to this tainted land".
[22:28] <@Codex> "I wouldn't call it tainted," The Dwarf swills,
[22:28] <@Codex> "It's just unlucky right now."
[22:28] <@Codex> "Ah, and there's THOSE twats..." The Dwarf scowls as two robed men walk through the door.
[22:29] <Spiritcurse> "I shall invoke my lord's protection over these woods, if you wish?" I offer, before turning back to my note.
[22:29] <GC> "I suppose your right friend, I just hate to see the townspeople suffer so".
[22:29] <Dorian> "Need some hand with that problem as well as the Goblins?"
[22:30] <@Codex> The children scatter out of their way, but the men where robes of white, slightly muddied from walking. They smile pleasently and wave at people on their way to the bar, not many wave back however.
[22:30] <Dergimil> Notices the sun approaching close to the hillside, which would mean night is about to fall, so he prepares to setup a campsite close by in case attackers approach.
[22:31] <Spiritcurse> I glance up, checking their chests for any holy symbol I recognize.
[22:31] <Dorian> I look out for any symbol as well.
[22:32] <GC> I look at the group whilst resting on my staff.
[22:32] <@Codex> The men wear a symbol of some kind, but it is one that you do not recognise, despite your extensive knowledge of the gods.
[22:33] <GC> I wisper to bart in a serious tone, "Who are they Bart?"
[22:34] <Furious> I finish the pint and place it on the table. I fold my arms and look at the men in robes.
[22:38] <@Codex> The men collect some drinks and go sit at the back of the bar, murmuring ensues but quickly dies down.
[22:38] <@Codex> There's a slight aura of unease at the moment
[22:38] <Spiritcurse> I stand and walk over to them, trying my best to seem friendly. "Good evening."
[22:39] <@Codex> "Good evening Sir!"
[22:39] <Dorian> I take a swig of my pint, before taking a good look at it. "Hey. That is very good ale."
[22:41] <@Codex> "I have yet to see you around these parts, What're you in Morndred' for?" The man smiles politely and gestures to the empty seat beside him.
[22:42] <Spiritcurse> "I'm looking for a friend of mine. Might I ask who you serve?"
[22:43] <@Codex> His eyes shift quickly to the folded paper in your hand and back, his smile widens a tiny bit.
[22:45] <@Codex> The man next to him begins, "Arnull is our lord and saviour, Bringer of new beginings."
[22:45] <@Codex> This man appears a little younger and slightly more desperate to move his tounge.
[22:46] <Spiritcurse> "Ah, I see. Have you been introduced to the glory of Pholtus?"
[22:46] <@Codex> The Dwarf, on the other side of the tavern says "Listen, you'll hear soon enough."
[22:46] <@Codex> The original speaker starts "I've heard of him yes, a mighty god, of course."
[22:47] <@Codex> "However, we're more concerned with the present, This town certainly is in need of a new start, is it not?"
[22:48] <@Codex> "We do the work of our lord indirectly, by hireing mercaneries to help correct the landscape."
[22:48] <GC> I exit out of the tavern and immediately return with my friendly companion, a dog.
[22:48] <Spiritcurse> "Are you in need of our group? At least until my friend arrives, I find myself at a loss for what to do."
[22:48] <@Codex> He places a hand on his companians shoulder as he tries to open his mouth. "Faltus, by the way." He extends a hand to Kadas.
[22:49] <Spiritcurse> I shake his hand briskly. "Kadas, it's a pleasure."
[22:50] <Furious> I watch the conversation. "I don't like the looks of this." I stand up and approach Kadas.
[22:50] <@Codex> "We sure do, friend."
[22:50] <Dorian> "Go for it. I'll just keep drinking." I smile, and continue with my pint.
[22:51] <@Codex> "Our church would be happy and more than willing to provide gold in exchange for certain services. Right now, there are Hethen Goblins conducting rituals out in the forest."
[22:51] <@Codex> "They've stolen rabbits from Tabitha's farm to perform these rituals."
[22:51] <Spiritcurse> "I'm sure we can handle that, yes."
[22:51] <@Codex> "We think that these rituals may be behind what's causing the crops to wither, so we plan to wipe them off of the landscape."
[22:51] <@Codex> The Dwarf pulls at his colar, obviously listening in.
[22:53] <Furious> I walk over and before I can even say anything I hear the word gold. "Where are these goblins?"
[22:53] <GC> I clench my teeth together as I analyse what I am hearing.
[22:55] <@Codex> "They're over on the other side of the hill by the Pelor chapel, a mile south from there."
[22:55] <@Codex> He shuffles in his seat, pleased with himself. "I could guide you to the edge of town if you'd like and point the way there."
[22:56] <Spiritcurse> "Consider it handled. Oh, and have you seen a friend of mine? Would likely be wearing similar robes to my own."
[22:57] <@Codex> The man looks you up and down. "Can't say I have friend." He pauses. "Shall we go in the morning? The Goblins are nocturnal as far as I know."
[22:59] <Spiritcurse> "Agreed, that sounds good to me." I gesture to the note. "Do you know of this?"
[23:01] <Dorian> I sit up in my chair a little and out my ale down.
[23:01] <@Codex> The Tavern stirs slightly, as the murmuring starts up again.
[23:02] <@Codex> "It uh, looks like a piece of parchment." He looks at it, squinting. "May I see it?"
[23:02] <Furious> I think for a moment, then stroll out of the bar. When I get outside I look for the the hill the man inside the tavern was talking about.
[23:03] <Spiritcurse> "It's a love letter between two people, or at least, it purports to be." I keep ahold of the note.
[23:03] <@Codex> You see clearly that there is a large hill the way you came and a smaller one behind the chapel.
[23:03] <@Codex> He said that it's a mile south of that.
[23:03] <@Codex> It's difficult to see past the edge of the town, however.
[23:04] <@Codex> "Oh, I see."
[23:04] <@Codex> "I'm afraid I don't know anything about it. Tell me if you do, though."
[23:05] <@Codex> His face grows slightly more serious for a split second, before returning to his cheerful demeanour.
[23:05] <Spiritcurse> "No matter, thank you. Have a good evening." I return to my table and resume studying the note.
[23:05] <@Codex> "Aye, yourself too, friend. We'll contact you in the 'morrow!"
[23:05] <@Codex> The Dwarf wipes his brow, begining his 4th Ale.
[23:06] <@Codex> "They're a part o' tha reason I stay outta this town on business."
[23:06] <Furious> After figuring out where we'll need to go, I notice that the sun is setting and head back inside the tavern.
[23:06] <Dorian> I lead over to Kadas, "I wouldn't trust them, if I were you."
[23:07] <Spiritcurse> "Of course not. They've heard of Pholtus, yet not accepted his rule. There's clearly something wrong with them. Know you much of codes?"
[23:07] <Dorian> "Not a thing, thankfully."
[23:07] <Furious> I sit back down at the table. "So, they were creepy. Who cares? They have gold and they're willing to give it to us for killing some measly goblins. I'm game."
[23:07] <@Codex> The murmuring calms and the tavern slowly begins to shift back to its normal state.
[23:08] <@Codex> "Aye," The Dwarf begins, "Juss' don't you lads be getting yer'selves into trouble."
[23:08] <@Codex> "OH!" The Dwarf proclaims.
[23:08] <@Codex> "Before I ferget,"
[23:08] <Furious> I raise an eyebrow.
[23:09] <Spiritcurse> I lower my voice. "I'm going to follow them when they leave. Something's not right."
[23:09] <Dorian> "You have a point. Still, they said they hadn't heard of our friend... Kadas, was it? Eddard Cole, pleasure to meet you. Yeah, they said they hadn't seen his friend, but the talker made sure his friend knew what was going down. A squeeze on the shoulder or something."
[23:09] <@Codex> "In a months time, the slavers route passes the only road outta here."
[23:10] <@Codex> "You'll uh, want to be off the road before then."
[23:10] <Spiritcurse> "You think they might have accosted him? And thank you, we'll make sure."
[23:11] <Dorian> "Probably. But we could get rid of the slavers if you really want. A good deed a day keeps Vecna away."
[23:11] <@Codex> "Son, if you could, I'd ask you."
[23:11] <@Codex> The Dwarf has grown more serious.
[23:12] <Dorian> "What, they better than us? Serious muscle or something?"
[23:12] <@Codex> "They're more than a tough bunch. They have an Ogre with 'em with... some kind of hammer."
[23:12] <Dorian> "Ooh, this sounds interesting! Tell me more."
[23:14] <@Codex> "They call it, the Magma Hamma'" He takes a swig, waving his hand to the Bartender.
[23:14] <@Codex> "I saw it once,"
[23:14] <@Codex> "Black as the darkest cavern, with red... things, within it."
[23:14] <@Codex> "It moves like a liquid but shakes the ground as he drops it to stretch."
[23:14] <GC> Nearing the end of my drink I leave a small amount in the bottom and rest it on the floor for my dog.
[23:16] <@Codex> The Dwarf finishes his pint, and looks around the tavern.
[23:16] <Spiritcurse> "I'll be back shortly." I walk to the bar, and quietly ask the barman the way to the privy, and the availability of rooms.
[23:16] <@Codex> "Now if you excuse me lads, I have business to attend to." He winks at a young barmaid at the next table over, and stands so that he is on the next table on her queue.
[23:17] <Dorian> "Now that's pimping." I grin and nod, before heading off to rent a room
[23:19] <@Codex> The Barwoman points to the privvy near the area with all the kids and informs you of the room prices. "Ten slivers a night, I know it's high, but we've had... people come in before."
[23:19] <@Codex> "Nothin' personal."
[23:19] <Dorian> "Don't worry, it's fine." I toss her a gold piece, "Keep the change, ma'am."
[23:20] <GC> "Oh, that reminds me, we haven't had a proper introduction yet, my name is Haveticus Zool, this one over here" I say gesturing towards my dog, "is Bekkeran and it is a pleasure to meet your aquaintence".
[23:20] <Spiritcurse> "Ah, my thanks. I'm Kadas. I'll return shortly, gentlemen." I head upstairs, listening at doors if the corridor is empty.
[23:20] <@Codex> A small child tugs at the shirt of Eddard.
[23:21] <@Codex> The barmaid rolls her eyes smiles, turning to another patron.
[23:21] <Dorian> "Good to meet you, I'm Sir Eddard Cole (actually knighted as well), and," I kneel down to look the child in the face, "what do you want, child?"
[23:22] <Furious> I untidy myself a little, before aproaching the barwoman and saying, "How much for a room love?" I pull out a few silver from my pocket.
[23:22] <@Codex> "Show us whatcha' can do with that Sword, Mister!"
[23:23] <@Codex> He points at the Blade presented before him, the kids from the other side of the tavarn are staring.
[23:24] <@Codex> "Ten," She replies quickly, "It goes down as you make less trouble."
[23:24] <Dorian> I look at the child sternly. "Child, a sword is not a toy. A sword is a deadly implement used only in the direst of situations. If you EVER draw your sword, you should be prepared to strike your opponent down and not stop 'till your enemy has fallen and lies dead at your feet. However, practice makes perfect, so of course I can show you a move or two."
[23:26] <Furious> I say "Aw, yer must be jokin'! Where am I gonna sleep tonight?"
[23:26] <@Codex> The corrodors appear empty for now, but the rooms are bustling and people can be heard from inside.
[23:27] <@Codex> There are some that are empty, to clarify.
[23:27] <Spiritcurse> I try to find a quiet, yet locked room.
[23:28] <@Codex> The bartender rolls her eyes. "Get up there ye' lazy git. I expect the full price and some for the next stay."
[23:29] <Furious> "Brilliant! Yer a star, love." I rush off upstairs and find a room for the night.
[23:29] <@Codex> You find one at the end of the corridor, the room opposite is filled, but the rooms beside it are both empty.
[23:30] <@Codex> The children cheer and run outside, holding the door open for you.
[23:30] <Spiritcurse> Figuring there should be some clothes I can borrow inside, I begin quietly fiddling with the lock, after looking through the keyhole.
[23:31] <@Codex> The door slides open at your second attempt.
[23:31] <@Codex> It's fairly quiet.
[23:32] <Spiritcurse> I silently head inside, closing the door behind me.
[23:33] <Furious> I enter the open room, locking the door behind me and settle down for a good night's sleep.
[23:33] <Spiritcurse> I look around for a simple set of clothes, and change into them.
[23:33] <@Codex> The room appears to have someones belongings inside, though it is difficult to see your surroundings, as there candles are all off.
[23:34] <Spiritcurse> I press the switch on the wall, hoping to create light.
[23:35] <@Codex> SILENT ALARM ACTIVATED.
[23:35] <@Codex> No, the candles slowly and dimly come on.
[23:35] <Spiritcurse> Now blessed with light, I change into peasant's clothing.
[23:36] <@Codex> You change with relative ease.
[23:36] <@Codex> They're a size too small.
[23:36] <@Codex> Wearable, however.
[23:37] <Spiritcurse> Now changed, I head back outside and downstairs.
[23:38] <Dorian> I smile and head outside, before drawing my sword and taking a stance. "Now children, pay attention. There are several schools of fighting. The basic martiality," I swing my sword, "the raging fight," I swing my sword more furiously, teaming it with a shout, "and, children, there is the ultimate of schools, the Divine Blade." I begin to channel the energy of Istus into my balde to the point where it glows with power. I then swing it and send out a wave of glowy power that scorches the air slightly.
[23:38] <Spiritcurse> After turning off the lights.
[23:38] <@Codex> The children gasp and murmur in awe.
[23:40] <@Codex> As you slip out, you feel you went unnoticed.
[23:40] <@Codex> Now, where to?
[23:41] <Spiritcurse> Downstairs, to wait for my quarry to leave the bar.
[23:41] <Dorian> I head back to the room I rented and go to sleep, not wearing my armour but with my Greatsword near to hand.
[23:43] <@Codex> Some time passes and a few patrons leave the bar. It begins to get slightly rowdier as more and more children are filtered out by their parents. The bar grows louder still and is very lively.
[23:43] <@Codex> It appears to be about 11 o'clock.
[23:49] <@Codex> But, there's nothing you can do about that right now, as your two targets step out of the tavern.
[23:50] <Spiritcurse> I wait a few seconds, then begin shadowing them.
[23:51] <@Codex> They don't appear to notice you as they walk down the street towards a house next to the chapel.
[23:52] <Spiritcurse> I keep following them, making sure not to let them out of sight.
[23:53] <@Codex> They approach the door, chatting about idle crap as one pulls out a key and puts it into the door.
[23:54] <Spiritcurse> I wait for them to enter, then walk behind the building and scale the wall.
[23:55] <@Codex> You succesfully scale the side of the wooden house, as there is a trellis filled with plants you don't recognise around the back.
[23:56] <@Codex> It leads to a window, where inside you spy a few people in beds. It appears to be a dormitory of some kind.
[23:56] <GC> As I exit the tavern I head towards the chapel and notice what appeared to be a shadow scaling the wall of the building next door. After noticing this I shrug to myself and continue dragging my inebriated hound back to the chapel.
[23:56] <@Codex> White appears to be a colour that they really like, as EVERYTHING in here is white.
[23:56] <Spiritcurse> After counting the beds, I try to pick the lock of the window.
[23:56] <@Codex> 8 in this room, 7 have shapes in them. Two stir as you attempt the lock.
[23:57] <Spiritcurse> Once the lock's open, I duck down and wait.
[23:57] <@Codex> You see and hear nothing as you duck down.
[23:58] <Spiritcurse> I climb around the house, looking for more windows.
[23:59] <GC> After setting my dog to rest on my bed I sit down in my favourite armchair and continue the reading of one of the books on my bookshelf.
[23:59] <@Codex> There are windows for every room, 4 rooms on the top floor and 3 on the bottom.
[00:00] <Spiritcurse> I check each top floor window.
[00:01] <@Codex> Including the bedroom you've already checked, there appears to be a second dormitory, 4 beds full, 1 bathroom and 1 master bedroom.
[00:01] <Spiritcurse> I try to pick the locks of the master bedroom, and see if anything's inside.
[00:02] <@Codex> Silently picking the lock, you clamber in through the window.
[00:02] <@Codex> There's nothing inside right now
[00:02] <@Codex> There's a double bed and a chest with a pant leg hanging out.
[00:03] <Spiritcurse> I begin searching the chest, keeping an ear out for any movement.
[00:03] <@Codex> There's a bookshelf that looks rather stylish, the floorboards in this room do not creak.
[00:03] <@Codex> The chest is filled with clothes and robes, strewn into it like a laundry basket.
[00:04] <Spiritcurse> I sketch a small picture of any holy symbol I see on the robes, then check the bookshelf, ideally for a holy book.
[00:05] <@Codex> The books appear to be stereotypical madman theory. Mankar Cameron's, Drobbler's, even a copy of Control Monthly.
[00:06] <Spiritcurse> I raise an eyebrow. Time to head downstairs, after stringing and drawing my bow.
[00:07] <@Codex> After that, you slink down the stairs. You hear movement in one of the rooms down the stairs, but the front door is directly infront of you.
[00:08] <Spiritcurse> Deciding to ignore that room, I check one of the others - peeking around the door first, or through a latch.
[00:09] <@Codex> It appears to be a living room of some kind. The only room remaining appears to be kitchen, but there's clearly a candle on in there and two tipsy culti-- robed men in there.
[00:10] <Spiritcurse> I quickly check the room, then leave via a window for the room under the stairs.
[00:11] <@Codex> As you go into that room, you quickly realise that there's a set of stairs going down into what appears to be a basement.
[00:11] <Spiritcurse> "This can clearly only end well", I murmur internally, then head downstairs.
[00:11] <@Codex> ~~~END OF SESSION~~~

[21:21] <@Codex> Walking down the stairs of the Tavern into the main room, stumbling and blury eyed from drink and/or wenches, you realise that one member of your party are unacounted for. You know that one member of your party is being nursed back to health from over-drinking by a Cleric at the temple, but there is no sign of Kadas, the one who carried that note yesterday.
[21:25] <@Codex> At all.
[21:31] <Tavolk> As I stroll down the stairs In my armour I trot over to the bar. "Mornin Bertha, pardon the armour, Clothes seem to be missing. Pour us something heavy." I toss her a coin
[21:33] <@Codex> Bertha nods heavily. She appears to be very tired.
[21:34] <GC> I enter the bar looking significantly less drunk than the previous night, closley followed by my companion, he appeared to be suffering from the nights drinking.
[21:34] <Tavolk> "You alright this mornin?"#
[21:34] <Spiritcurse> I emerge from the tavern door, clearly deprived of sleep, common sense, and not-being-surrounded-by-cultists. It's been a rough night.
[21:35] <Tavolk> I glance at the stranger
[21:35] <Tavolk> and then do a double take as I realise he's wearing my clothes
[21:35] <GC> "So" I say in a cheerful booming voice, "How is everyone on this fine morning?"
[21:36] <GC> Bek quivers as my loud voice hurts her cainine ears
[21:36] <@Codex> Bertha rubs her head as she quietly and delicately places a large drink on the bar. She raises one finger to her lips and sits down on stool.
[21:36] <Spiritcurse> "I've spent my evening hidden in a broom closet, listening to the foulest and most evil rites. Truly, those cultists are scum."
[21:37] <Tavolk> "KNAVE! Why are you clothed in my outfit?!?!" I stand up and draw my blade approaching the newcomer.
[21:37] <GC> I raise an eyebrow. So it's confirmed then, they are definately cultists.
[21:38] <Spiritcurse> "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, my friend", I reply, lying smoothly on the fly.
[21:38] <Furious> I slide down the stairs, "Well I had a great night's sleep, now weren't there some goblins to attend to?" I briskly exit the tavern and check for the hill I looked for last night.
[21:42] <Tavolk> I put my sword against the man. "Clothes please."
[21:43] <Spiritcurse> "Fine, good sir. But threatening a man of the cloth is hardly sporting." I head to the stairs, to go and get changed."

[21:44] <Tavolk> I grumble something about these "damned adventurers" and head back to the bar to grumble into my drink
[21:45] <GC> I sit at the bar, "Bertha my dear, may I have an ale? oh, and could you bring some milk to help Bek's hangover?"
[21:45] <GC> The dog winpers and holds its paws to its ears.
[21:46] <Spiritcurse> I get changed back into my priest's robes in an empty room, then head back downstairs.
[21:49] <Spiritcurse> "Fine, you can have these back. Now, the greenskins?"
[21:50] <Tavolk> "Greenskins you say?" Interested again "What've the goblins been up to now?"
[21:51] <@Codex> The robed gentlemen from yesterday walk through the front door, smiles and happiness abound.
[21:53] <Furious> Noticing the man returning to the tavern, I follow him back in and sit down at the bar.
[21:54] <Spiritcurse> "He should know. The foul non-Pholtus worshipping cu... cultist over there."
[21:54] <@Codex> "Gentlemen,"
[21:55] <@Codex> Bertha slams a drink on the table.
[21:55] <Tavolk> "Not today preist."
[21:55] <@Codex> Rubbing her head, all the while.
[21:55] <Furious> "Did you just say phal-, on second thoughts nevermind."
[21:55] <@Codex> "We've got some greenskins to slay, no? Tell us when you're ready and we'll walk you most of the way."
[21:56] <@Codex> The two men sit down at the bar and order a couple of drinks.
[21:56] <GC> "Your demeanor radiates with approachability and kindheartedness as always"
[21:56] <@Codex> Bertha winks, then sits down on her stool and closes her eyes.
[22:00] <@Codex> "A little early, but hey." He remarks, drinking slowly.
[22:01] <Tavolk> Recognising the priest of pelor "Zool, a word please?" I take him aside
[22:01] <GC> "Yes, what is it?" I ask.
[22:02] <Tavolk> In a hushed tone "Why are you doing business with these vultures? You know as well as me they mean no good"
[22:03] <Spiritcurse> I walk and sit with the men. "Good sirs, have you a moment for Pholtus? Perhaps you can reconsider the state of your eternal damnation?"
[22:04] <GC> Aye, they are bad news but I have little choice in the matter, this town is threatened by goblins and they are the priority for now. They are helping us eliminate them, don't worry, I do not trust them as far as I can throw them".
[22:04] <@Codex> "Afraid not sir, but we'll definately listen."
[22:05] <@Codex> "We don't turn any man down."
[22:06] <Spiritcurse> "Pholtus, my lord, seeks the enlightenment of those living in countries he wishes to illuminate, to preserve them from the flames."
[22:07] <Tavolk> "Aye" I grumble "Fancy help from an old friend then?"
[22:07] <@Codex> "Don't you worry sir, we are protected from the flames of damnation."

[22:08] <Furious> I stand up and approach the men, "This sounds like a great conversation an all but I'm ready to go kill some goblins. Can't speak much for these jokers though."
[22:09] <@Codex> "Yes, yes, correct, we should do so."
[22:09] <@Codex> The men stand up, finishing their drinks.
[22:09] <@Codex> "Let's be off then! Where is your friend by the way? We appear to be missing one."
[22:10] <GC> I return to my drink, down it in one, and whistle for my dog to do the same.
[22:10] <Spiritcurse> "Indeed, let's be off."
[22:10] <@Codex> The dog grumbles lightly, before doing so.
[22:12] <Tavolk> I nod to Bertha "I'll be back soon love"
[22:13] <@Codex> Bertha is facedown on the bar.
[22:15] <Dorian> I stagger in, groaning and rubbing my head. "The hell did I drink?"
[22:15] <@Codex> Bertha lifts her head and shushes you, quickly.
[22:16] <Dorian> "Good plan"
[22:16] <@Codex> "Well, now that we're all accounted for, let's be off."
[22:16] <Spiritcurse> "Probably everything. Now come on, we're going to forgive the shit out of some greenskins."
[22:18] <Dorian> "Cool, I'll get my goddess."
[22:18] <@Codex> The two men make quickly for the door. Suprising amount of speed for the robed couple.
[22:18] <@Codex> Not to insinuate that they're a couple.
[22:18] <Tavolk> "Sounds like grim work" I move to stick with Zool
[22:19] <Spiritcurse> "The work of Pholtus is always good work."
[22:20] <Dorian> "But that work is destined by Istus to happen - I can religion you too."
[22:20] <@Codex> The pair are stood outside on the porch of the tavern, they appear to be chatting whilst reading out of thick books.
[22:20] <Spiritcurse> "Ah, but Istus is simply an archangel of Pholtus, so anything they do, Pholtus does better."
[22:22] <Dorian> "You appear to be confused - Istus defines fate. Noone decides, not even Pholtus. Only Istus decides, and when she does, she does for everyone, and their destiny.£
[22:22] <@Codex> Bertha shushes the pair of you again, before laying her head carefully back to the bar. It's time to prepare your spells and fuck off.
[22:22] <GC> "Can we please leave the dick waving until after we have committed genocide".
[22:22] <Furious> I exit the tavern, "Are we walking there or...?"
[22:23] <Dorian> "Cart. I need five minutes to pray and get ready.£
[22:23] <GC> I also exit, "We can or we can take the donkey. Matters little for me".
[22:24] <@Codex> "It's only about a mile away. If you have a cart, We'll guide the way."
[22:24] <Tavolk> I say a quick prayer then head off after the others
[22:25] <Spiritcurse> I head after the others, spending a few minutes in prayer on the way.
[22:26] <GC> "I'll go get the donkey ready, any help would be appreciated".
[22:26] <Tavolk> "Aye brother of Pelor I'll give you a hand"
[22:28] <Dorian> "I'll help as well, why not?"
[22:28] <Spiritcurse> "I must spend time in worship, I'm afraid."
[22:29] <GC> As we approach the cart I say, "You take out two of the chests and leave them in the church, I'll go and get the donkey".
[22:30] <Tavolk> "On it"
[22:30] <Dorian> "Sure."
[22:31] <GC> I return with the donkey and hook it up to the cart.
[22:31] <Tavolk> "Done"
[22:32] <GC> The cart prepared I invite the others to hop on and stop outside the bar, "You getting on or what?".
[22:32] <@Codex> "Then let us be off," the robed man says, clambering onto the cart. The second one gives a quick wave and scarpers off.
[22:33] <Tavolk> "Aye let us do the foul deed"
[22:33] <Dorian> I jump in and draw my sword, laying across my crossed legs and closing my eyes in prayer.
[22:34] <@Codex> The cart rolls off towards the goblin camp, robed man directing the way.
[22:34] <Spiritcurse> I draw and string my bow, praying for the benevolence of my god.
[22:36] <GC> I set the cart going, following the directions given by the cultist scum.
[22:36] <@Codex> As you roll over a nearby hill, the robed man directs you to a stop in a clearing.
[22:36] <GC> During which I offer a prayor to the glorious Pelor.
[22:37] <Tavolk> I draw my blade. Sensing the grim battle afore us
[22:37] <Spiritcurse> I correct his prayer subconciously, in a neat and perfectly executed mid-ethereal hijacking.
[22:37] <@Codex> "Now, they're just a 5 minute walk in that," The man points. "I'll wait here. I'm not a man of steel or any sort of combat."
[22:38] <@Codex> "If you can recover the crate of rabbits, I'm sure that poor farmer will be happy, if they're still alive. If not... maybe just leave them there."
[22:38] <@Codex> "Have fun!"
[22:39] <Dorian> After finishing my prayers correctly and without any Pholtine intervention, I stand up and head off in the direction indicated, if any.
[22:40] <Tavolk> I silently move forward staying low
[22:40] <GC> Securing the donkey and grabbing my quarterstaff I hed off with the rest of the group.
[22:40] <Furious> I draw my rapier in an extremely over the top fashion and hold it up in the air.
[22:40] <@Codex> After a 5-7 minutes of quiet approach you spy a cave ahead, with a single goblin situated outside.
[22:40] <GC> I raise my hand and make a symbol for the dog to follow at a distance.
[22:41] <Spiritcurse> After attempting only the finest Pholtine intervention, I follow crouched to the ground.
[22:41] <Dorian> "Ok. There's one way in and one way out. I vote we kill the guard then set fire to the entrance-slash-exit and smoke them out."
[22:42] <GC> "I'm always up for that".
[22:42] <Tavolk> "Smoking them out could be a good idea"
[22:44] <Dorian> "Smoke them out. Then slaughter them as they run.
[22:45] <Dorian> "Or we could just challenge the chief to single combat."
[22:45] <Tavolk> "Since when did goblins stick to their word?"
[22:45] <Spiritcurse> "Challenge them to single combat. While they're distracted, I'll do the typical way Pholtus instructs we deal with nonbelievers."
[22:47] <Furious> "Did someone say single combat?" I sheathe my rapier before redrawing it and holding it in the air overextravagently
[22:48] <Dorian> "I'm going to be the one to fight."
[22:48] <Spiritcurse> "Do it. While you're busy, I'll poison the tents, burn the women and rape the water supply."
[22:48] <Dorian> "Good lad. Wait... no, you no what, no questions, let's do this."
[22:49] <GC> "Kill the goblin outside the cave and I'll prepare a 'controlled' foresf fire to guard our escape in case it all goes wrong".
[22:49] <Dorian> "Cool, you do that." I stand up, sheathe my sword, and walk up to the guard. "GREETINGS! I am here to speak to your chief."
[22:49] <Tavolk> "Lets do this"
[22:50] <@Codex> The goblin raises his spear and lets out a gutteral shout.
[22:51] <Dorian> I sigh, and draw my sword. Before roaring at him at the top of my lungs.
[22:51] <Tavolk> "FOR PELOR" I yell as I join the charge
[22:52] <@Codex> The goblin drops his spear and flees back into the cave.
[22:52] <GC> I quicky prepare the fire along the entrance to the cave.
[22:52] <@Codex> The goblin trips on his way running back.
[22:54] <Spiritcurse> Sensing the time of need of my fellow sentient, I do the priestly thing and dispense kind, loving mercy. Which ironically, is the name of the arrow embedded in his spine.
[22:54] <Furious> I gather sticks and debris from the area and help prepare the fire
[22:55] <Tavolk> "I'll keep an eye on the entrance while you build the fire"
[22:55] <@Codex> The goblin lets out a screech as the arrow severs his spine.
[22:55] <Dorian> "Ok, so these goblins are massive push overs. Let's go kill them. Prepare the fire, you may need oil. Please don't light it before we're out."
[22:56] <Tavolk> "Then I'll move in with you"
[22:56] <GC> I hold my hand up, click my fingers and point to the growing pile of kindling. The dog gets the jist and begins to bring anything it deems not worthy of being used as a chew toy.
[22:56] <Dorian> "Cool. Cleric, you couldn't cover our asses, could you?"
[22:59] <GC> Standing up, I create an Ice Beast to help them brave the inferno
[22:59] <GC> I cast Comprehend Languages on the Crusader.
[23:00] <GC> Followed by hasting Light on the Paladin.
[23:01] <GC> Of course I use my Holy Symbol spell prior to all these castings, if I didn't that would just be silly.
[23:02] <Spiritcurse> "I'll keep helping with the fire. It'll help. I promise."
[23:02] <GC> Finally I cast Enlarge on the two brave souls.
[23:02] <GC> "Thats all I can do I'm afraid".
[23:02] <Dorian> I take out my Bullseye Lantern and put it on a cord around my neck. "Don;t worry, we'll be fine."
[23:03] <Tavolk> "Thankyou friend" then I take out my everburning torch
[23:03] <Tavolk> "If you hear a whistle then we need help. Lets do this"
[23:04] <Spiritcurse> "When you whistle, light the fire. Gotcha."
[23:04] <@Codex> As you continue continue forwards through the cave, you discover that it twists and turns several times. The cave is really very deep.
[23:05] <Tavolk> "You lead us friend"
[23:05] <Dorian> I march forwards, my lantern lighting the way
[23:06] <GC> I shout into the cave "The ice beast is under your control now friend, its all up to you now".
[23:06] <Spiritcurse> "Good luck!"
[23:06] <@Codex> Continuing deeper brings you to some kind of meeting area, different from the empty sleeping pits you encountered earlier. Goblins fill this area and some kind of greater robed goblin stands on a rock infront of all these goblins, like a platform.
[23:06] <Tavolk> "Beast" I say "With me"
[23:07] <Dorian> I walk up to the robed goblin. "YOU! Are you the chief of this tribe?"
[23:07] <@Codex> The goblin, Mid-way through some kind of ritual, rabbit and knife in each hand goes wide eyed at your appearance.
[23:08] <@Codex> In a gutteral and broken tounge, she says, "Me... H-healer."
[23:08] <@Codex> The goblins covering this room turn around and scatter for weapons.
[23:08] <Dorian> "Then get your chief. I wish to duel him to the death for this land."
[23:09] <Tavolk> I keep close to the crusader Ice beast at my side
[23:09] <@Codex> The "healer" raises a hand and shouts "STOP!" in Goblin. Most goblins stay put, turning towards the entrance to the room.
[23:10] <Dorian> I glance towards the entrance to the room, "Is your chief there?"
[23:10] <@Codex> "Ritual... Middle of. Must... go on."
[23:10] <@Codex> The goblin strains coming up with the words.
[23:10] <Tavolk> "What's she saying?"
[23:11] <Dorian> "She's speaking Common, stop being an insensitive idiot."
[23:11] <Dorian> "What will happen should it not?"
[23:11] <Tavolk> "Sorry, never been too good with accents"
[23:11] <@Codex> "Plants,"
[23:11] <@Codex> "Trees,"
[23:12] <@Codex> "They... [dead],"
[23:12] <Tavolk> "You're helping the forest?"
[23:13] <Dorian> "Right. So, it's a global fertility ritual. Now, do you have to have a rabbit for it, or could the saccrifice be the loser of the single combat?"
[23:13] <@Codex> A larger goblin steps out from a distant exit to the chamber. Wearing a cracked skull for a helmet and leather cloth covering all barring his genatels, he raises a heavy looking spear. "[WHAT YOU WANT]" He screeches.
[23:14] <Dorian> "To fight you for this land, if you are the chief."
[23:15] <@Codex> "[Land is MINE!]" he stamps his feet. "[YOU FEAST.]"
[23:15] <@Codex> The shamanic goblin with the rabbit in hand clearly protests.
[23:16] <@Codex> "[No more blood must be spilled in this room! The ritual will fail if it is not done right here!]"
[23:16] <@Codex> She gestures the ring around her on the ground.
[23:16] <Dorian> "Oh? So the land doesn't care if I, say, kill your shaman?"
[23:16] <Tavolk> "What are they shouting about?"
[23:17] <Dorian> "I'm not going to, don't worry, but if you don't accept the duel, your land is screwed."
[23:17] <@Codex> The goblin shaman clearly doesn't like this comment. "[We do ritual later, get them out.]"
[23:17] <Dorian> "Look, we'll leave happily. Just let me have my duel, damnit!"
[23:17] <@Codex> The skulled Goblin looks you up and down. "I take you." He then throws his spear across the room towards you.
[23:21] <@Codex> The goblin is passed a spear by a nearby goblin as he then stalks towards you, raising the spear.
[23:24] <Dorian> I grin, take a stance that emphasises Martial Spirit, then slash out towards the goblin chief with the blade of the Crusaders.
[23:25] <Furious> I enter the cave and begin the search for the crate of rabbits
[23:28] <@Codex> The Chieftan stabs very aggressively with the spear towards your gut, catching your side.
[23:31] <Dorian> I swing at the Chieftan solidly, aiming for his skull and solidifying my stance.
[23:31] <Furious> I enter deeper into the cave, following the main tunnel.
[23:32] <Dorian> My sword isn't stopped by his skull. Nor the first inch of the ground.
[23:33] <Dorian> I turn round to face the rest of the tribe, "IS THERE NOONE ELSE!?"
[23:33] <@Codex> No noise or movement in the crowd of goblins.
[23:34] <@Codex> Silence fills the air.
[23:34] <GC> I look to those who waited outside, "I think it's going well".
[23:34] <Tavolk> I exhale after holding my breath through the fight. I allow a small smile to cross my face
[23:34] <Spiritcurse> Hearing the shout, I cock my head and turn to the others. "We light it now?"
[23:35] <GC> "Yes, we do".
[23:35] <Furious> I enter the main chamber and sneak around the edge of the room while they are all distracted by Eddard.
[23:36] <Spiritcurse> "I thought as much." I draw a flint and steel from my pack. "You want to do the honours, for Pholtus?"
[23:36] <GC> "We shall do it together friend, I begin to use my own set of flint and steel which the church clearly wont be missing".
[23:37] <Spiritcurse> "Excellent." I light a particularly dry pile of kindling, which catches instantly.
[23:37] <GC> I send Bek to wait in the cart, "It's safer over there girl, go on now".
[23:39] <@Codex> The Shaman asks "We... Need one." She raises the hand with the rabbit in it.
[23:40] <Dorian> "Right. That makes me your chief now. So. Take the rabbit, that's singular, you need for your ritual. We're having the rest back. Oh, and I'm officially called the king, not the chief, because I so decree it."
[23:40] <@Codex> "Y-Yes."
[23:41] <@Codex> The goblin opens the rabbit, neck to groin and continues her ritual. A single tear rolls down her cheek as she does this.
[23:41] <@Codex> Chanting ensues slowly and quietly from the goblin crowd, which has congregated on the other side of the room, giving a wide gap between the new chief and themselves.
[23:42] <Dorian> "Good. Now. I'm off, I have things to take care of. Shaman, you are very smart, you need to lead the tribe whilst I am gone. Do not worry, you will rule well. As well as shaman, you are now chief vizier. This means when I'm not here, you are in charge."
[23:43] <@Codex> "Yes."
[23:43] <Dorian> I smile, take the crate of rabbits, and leave the cave, gesturing for the Paladin to follow.
[23:43] <Spiritcurse> "So, do you reckon we're ever going to see them again?"
[23:43] <@Codex> Smoke seeps into the cave from the roof, none of the goblins appear to have noticed as of yet.
[23:44] <Furious> I casually walk out of the cave
[23:44] <Tavolk> "That was a good deed you did there ... we should make haste"
[23:44] <Tavolk> I walk... quickly out of the cave
[23:44] <Spiritcurse> "Hey, they're alive. Praise Pholtus!"
[23:44] <Dorian> "Istus decreed it, you bloody idiot."
[23:45] <Tavolk> "SHIT! WHY'D YOU LIGHT THE FIRE!"
[23:46] <GC> "We heard yelling and assumed the worst!"
[23:46] <Spiritcurse> "We thought you were dead! We heard screaming!"
[23:46] <GC> "Also we were bored".
[23:46] <Spiritcurse> "That too."
[23:46] <Dorian> "I'm not surprised, I'm just... dissapointed."
[23:47] <GC> "Look at it this way, if you were to die your soul would be cleansed by the flame".
[23:47] <Spiritcurse> "As a nonbeliever, you're not technically a person, see."
[23:48] <Dorian> "Alright, who's for tying this bloody idiotic Pholtus worshipper to a tree and setting it on fire?"
[23:48] <GC> "Quick, let us return to the cart".
[23:49] <Spiritcurse> "Not me, now come on. You survived through the grace of Pholtus, so let's just be thankful and move on."
[23:50] <Dorian> "Urgh, I'm so looking forward to getting rid of my hangover with more booze."
[23:51] <Dorian> I sigh, and head back towards the vsrt.
[23:51] <Dorian> By which I mean cart.
[23:51] <Spiritcurse> I accompany the foul non-person back to the vsrt.
[23:52] <Tavolk> I stroll back to the cart.
[23:53] <GC> I sit down in the cart before turning to the cultist, "So, is that it?".
[23:53] <@Codex> The robed man waves as the group approaches.
[23:53] <@Codex> Done already?
[23:53] <@Codex> He asks.
[23:53] <Dorian> "Hey." I drop a crate of rabbits in the cart. "Have some rabbits."
[23:53] <Spiritcurse> "Indeed. There may be some... repercussions later, but now, we're fine. Let's go."
[23:54] <@Codex> He then looks up at the plume of smoke. Then to the rabbits. "Wonderful! The poor woman will be ever so pleased."
[23:54] *** Spiritcurse quit (Quit: HydraIRC -> http://www.hydrairc.com <- In tests, 0x09 out of 0x0A l33t h4x0rz prefer it Smile)
[23:55] <@Codex> "Then let's clear off," The robed man says hastily, choosing to ignore the smoke.

Codex's totally normal and not at all Hijacked by Divine Caster campaign Empty Re: Codex's totally normal and not at all Hijacked by Divine Caster campaign

Post by DorianCreed Sat May 18, 2013 10:54 pm

[21:21] <@Codex> When we last left off, our intrepid heroes had just returned from the forest after burning out a cave of goblins and leaving them to their vile selves. The robed man who travelled with you says, "I will deliver your payment to you later this day, in the Tavern. Goodbye gentlemen!" Before giving you a chance to speak, he fucks right off into a house near the Temple of Pelor.
[21:22] <Spiritcurse> "Ah, a perfect time for us to praise Pholtus for delivering us from peril, aye?"
[21:23] <Dorian> "Please stop with the forced Pholtus worship. I'm already considering leaving you tied to a tree."
[21:23] <GC> "I must go tend to my duties at the temple, I will return momentarily".
[21:26] <GC> Upon saying this I make my way inside the temple of Pelor.
[21:26] <Spiritcurse> "We burned all of the trees near here, for the glory of the Shining One."
[21:27] <@Codex> Smoke rises from over the hill.
[21:27] <Dorian> "Goddamn it, I'm going to go pray somewhere. Please, try not to be obnoxious until I get back."
[21:28] <Spiritcurse> "You see? Even the smoke rises to be closer to Him."
[21:36] <Dorian> "You know what? I've had it. You, sir, will stop implying your god is the only god or I will stab you in the face with divine fury."
[21:38] <Spiritcurse> "Ah, has your demon lord controlled you? To insult a follower of the true faith?"
[21:41] <Dorian> "I worship a goddess of fate, not a demon lord."
[21:42] <Spiritcurse> "You vastly overestimate the powers of your god, sir."
[21:45] <Dorian> "And you vastly underestimate the truth of fate!"
[21:45] <Spiritcurse> "The truth? The truth is that your so called god is but a lowly demon, unfit to clean the boots of a true worshipper."
[21:45] <GC> Bek bounds out of the front door of the temple and begins barking frantically at the two squabbling morons.
[21:47] <Dorian> "Sir, you worship Pholtus! You have no room to talk, with your Underdeity!"
[21:47] <GC> "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
[21:47] <Dorian> "Shut up, we're arguing!"
[21:47] <GC> "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
[21:48] <Spiritcurse> "Underdeity? At least my deity doesn't spend all it's time 'under' the dwarf gods, if you know what I mean."
[21:48] <GC> "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
[21:48] <Spiritcurse> "Silence, mutt."
[21:48] <Dorian> "Sir, you have three seconds to take that back."
[21:49] <GC> Bek growles at the religion hater and bites its shins slightly to get his attention.
[21:49] <Spiritcurse> "Alternatively, you and this dog can remove yourself from my presence. After all, he bears a striking resemblance to your high priestess."
[21:51] <Spiritcurse> I draw my bow, step backwards, and point behind the heretic before me. "Look! It's your 'god', come to chastise you himself!"
[21:55] <Dorian> I turn and charge the idiot, drawing my weapon as I do so, "You will burn for this!"
[21:56] <Dorian> I then take the stance of Martial Spirit
[21:56] <Dorian> Seeing as how I missed and all
[21:57] <Spiritcurse> I grab a caltrop from my pouch, swing, miss, and step back. "There. Temper tantrum over?"
[21:58] <@Codex> A Dwarven man with a Greataxe in Hand begins running down the street, barelling straight towards the pair of you.
[22:00] <Dorian> I step forward and swing my sword dead for the fanatic's head, cursing his fool of a god and his idiotic followers.
[22:02] <Spiritcurse> Taking another step back, I loose an arrow into his shoulder. "Did your god stop that? Now, stop this."
[22:03] <@Codex> The Dwarf is a short distance away.
[22:04] <@Codex> You can hear him yelling "WHAT THEE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU TWATS DOING!?"
[22:04] <Dorian> I smile, and pull the arrow out, "My god protects from all wounds." I then step forward and aim for a solid blow to the fanatic's head, which hits for some decent damage and knocks the fanatic clean out.
[22:06] <GC> Bek goes up to the fallen fanatic and licks his face.
[22:09] <@Codex> The Dwarf barrels into Edard at a very high speed, knocking him flat.
[22:09] <@Codex> The Dwarf stands upon each of your arms, quickly kicking your blade away.
[22:10] <@Codex> The Dwarf doesn't appear to be wearing a uniform of any sort. Just light mail and leather.
[22:10] <@Codex> "WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DO YE' THINK YER DOIN'!?"
[22:10] <Dorian> "Defending the honour of my goddess against a bloody idiotic Pholtus worshipper!"
[22:11] <@Codex> The leader of the church steps forwards from the door. "I can vouch for the pair of them." He looks into Edard's face, with a lazy look in his eye.
[22:12] <@Codex> "Their blood is pumping as they've just been doing this land a favour, killing the goblins nearby."
[22:12] <@Codex> The Dwarf looks between Edard and the Pelor Church's leader, before stepping off of your arms.
[22:14] <Dorian> "Thank you. Now, I feel a tad thick, so can we get this idiot healed up? I'll pay."
[22:14] <GC> Exiting the temple I look at the pair of them, "really? you couldnt just be friends for 5 minutes?"
[22:15] <@Codex> "I got my eye on ye'."
[22:15] <@Codex> The Dwarf stomps off, clearly very agitated.
[22:15] <@Codex> The priest looks around, uninterested. "I need a bigger drink." He states, as he wanders off.
[22:16] <Dorian> "No, we couldn't. Now, can we get this idiot healed before he bleeds out?"
[22:16] <Dorian> I stand up, brush my armour off, grab my sword and sheathe it, then pick up Kadas and head for the temple.
[22:18] <GC> "COME ON GIRL!" I shout to Bek, closely followed by a high pitched whistle.
[22:19] <GC> I approach the fools and slap the dying moron round the face, he immediately begins the bumpy road along the healing process.
[22:23] <Spiritcurse> "Good lad. Pholtus smile upon you." I take the note from my pocket, and continue working. "You there, demon-worshipper. That knock to the head, in accordance with His plans, made me think of something."
[22:23] <Spiritcurse> "So well done."
[22:23] <Dorian> "Oh, Istus, here we go again."
[22:23] <Spiritcurse> "Going to beat up a priest again?"
[22:24] <GC> "DON'T, make me slap you again cretin" I look down at the Pholtus worshipper with a disapproving gaze.
[22:24] <Dorian> "You don't count, most priests aren't dicks about it."
[22:25] <GC> "RIGHT, moving on, short story is a prist of the church of pholtus is dead in our crypt and he was found holding this bag" I hold the bag up for them to see, "Right, now that you'r all up to speed lets get down to the crypt". Upon saying this I begin approaching the crypt door again.
[22:26] <Spiritcurse> "Wonderful! Did he have his most sanctimonious coin pouch on him?"
[22:26] <Spiritcurse> "If so, it's mine. By divine right."
[22:27] <Dorian> "It's... actually, you're sort of right. It is."
[22:27] <GC> I shout back, "It's enchanted, it can't be opened and if you touch any of his posessions I will cut out your tongue".
[22:27] <GC> "Priest, if you would be so kind" I say, gesturing at the crypt door.
[22:27] <Spiritcurse> "They, unfortunately, fall to me, by the Pholtus act of... seventeen."
[22:30] <Spiritcurse> "I'm still a little shaken. You'll have to go first. Make sure to stand on any odd coloured floor panels."
[22:30] <Dorian> I sigh, and head towards the crypt.
[22:30] <@Codex> "It's open," A robed man drearily replies.
[22:31] <GC> I enter the door and make my way down into the crypt.
[22:31] <Spiritcurse> I follow, trying to see where the bag went.
[22:32] <Dorian> I make sure to stand at the front of the group, being the tank of the group.
[22:32] <Spiritcurse> Being a priest, I bring up the rear.
[22:32] <@Codex> Hue.
[22:38] <@Codex> The crypt stairs are dark, the only light source is the occasional lit torch, among a few that are mear cinders. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, brings you all to a rather large room, with several exits on each wall. One of these clearly leads to a preparation room of some kind.
[22:39] <Dorian> I take out my Bullseye lantern and take a look closely at the room.
[22:41] <Spiritcurse> I steal a torch from the walls. Is fine profit this day. Will feed family back home for many moons.
[22:42] <GC> "This way" I say as I approach the preperation room.
[22:43] <Dorian> I follow, using my lantern to light the way.
[22:43] <@Codex> Entering the room reveals a man in light, leather armour, wearing an amulet of Pholtus around his neck.
[22:43] <@Codex> His left hand is extremely tightly shut.
[22:43] <Spiritcurse> "AH, BROTHER! WONDERFUL! We must speak - I rarely have cause to speak to a non-filthy-heretic these days."
[22:44] <@Codex> He's also ghost-white.
[22:44] <GC> I check the room before approaching the body and inspecting the corpses wounds.
[22:45] <GC> "Hmm, no wounds" I say as I inspect the corpse.
[22:45] <Dorian> "No wounds? That's not good."
[22:45] <GC> "Indeed".
[22:45] <Spiritcurse> "Maybe he was poisoned. Or eaten by a parasite. Or slain by Pholtus for failing to recognize the one true god. Or old age. Or hunger. Or thirst."
[22:46] <GC> Bek circles the room once before settling into a conviniently dog shaped alcove near the exit.
[22:46] <GC> "Are you blind".
[22:47] <Spiritcurse> "I'm still dazed."
[22:47] <GC> I open the bodys mouth and inspect the gums and tongue for signs of poisoning or discolouration that wouldn't be caused by being dead".
[22:48] <Spiritcurse> While he's distracted, I attempt to steal that bag without anyone noticing.
[22:48] <@Codex> The man is young, maybe 20 or so. His mouth looks clean.
[22:48] <GC> I retain a tight grip on the bag which I havent put down yet.
[22:49] <Spiritcurse> I pause, consider the situation for a few seconds, then tickle him to try to make him drop the bag.
[22:50] <GC> "Fine, have the bag, now leave me alone" at this i throw it into the next room.
[22:50] <Spiritcurse> I run after it as fast as possible.
[22:51] <GC> "I am going to bless the body, just in case somethign has been tampered with".
[22:52] <@Codex> The bag has some kind of indentation on the latch. It's a small leather satchel.
[22:52] <GC> Saying this I raise my hands over the body and xast burial bless.
[22:52] <Spiritcurse> I rub my finger on the latch, praying to Pholtus. Then, unless it opens, I lick the latch, ask it politely, and bang it against the wall.
[22:54] <@Codex> The bag does not respond to your delicate touch.
[22:54] <GC> I shout through, "Use an arrow head to cut the bag open!".
[22:55] <Spiritcurse> I press my signet ring against the bag, then kiss it. Then caress it in increasingly homoerotic ways.
[22:55] <GC> "AAAgh!" I draw my hands away as I sense the dark spell that has being cast uopn the body
[22:55] <GC> "Something is wrong here, he has been cursed, or somethign very similar".
[22:56] <Spiritcurse> "I think he's been killed, inquisitor."
[22:56] <@Codex> The bag does not respond to your advances.
[22:57] <Dorian> "Gotta agree with the dribbling idiot on this one. Except for the whole 'Licking the bag' thing."
[22:57] <Spiritcurse> I fellate the bag, tickling the bottom of it a little.
[22:57] <GC> "Try this!" I take the necklace from the body and throw it at him.
[22:57] <Spiritcurse> "Oh yeah." I press the amulet into the latch.
[22:58] <@Codex> The bag doesn't respond well to the fellatio, however, the amulet being pressed into it does score a reaction.
[22:58] <@Codex> The bag opens.
[22:58] <@Codex> Well, it unlocks.
[22:59] <Spiritcurse> "Oh, you liked that did you?" I open the bag, feeling that feel you get when you're about to die horribly.
[22:59] <@Codex> The bag has a bunch of mundane items within.
[23:00] <GC> "What's in the bag?" I shout.
[23:00] <Spiritcurse> I pocket, ingest, pleasure, and invest the items, as best befits each one.
[23:00] <Spiritcurse> "Nothing of value!"
[23:00] <@Codex> A wallet, a closed timepiece, a small journal style booklet.
[23:01] <@Codex> Among loose notes and about 20 copper coins.
[23:01] <Spiritcurse> I hide those in my crotch pouch, then begin reading the journal. "Some of these words are long. I'll read it."
[23:02] <Dorian> "Do you want to ever leave this crypt, or shall I just paint the walls red with your entrails?"
[23:03] <@Codex> The journal is full of sketches of people and objects.
[23:03] <Spiritcurse> "You're just angry because of your vow of chastity. Or is that just your excuse?"
[23:03] <@Codex> They appear random.
[23:04] <Spiritcurse> I read the book, bellowing "REVEAL YOUR SECRETS TO ME". Nothing is revealed, despite my earlier professional-tier fellatio.
[23:04] <@Codex> You're the best. At fellatio.
[23:04] <@Codex> You musn't squander this talent.
[23:05] <Spiritcurse> "I SAID SECRETS. I KNEW THAT ALREADY".
[23:05] <Dorian> "Ooookay...." I turn to Helveticus, "Shall I just knock him out?"
[23:05] <GC> I wisper to eddard, "Is he ok?"
[23:06] <GC> I look back at the bumbling fool and back at Eddard, "I think it would be for the best".
[23:07] <Dorian> I step up to Kadas and take a swing at the back of his head.
[23:07] <Dorian> Which misses
[23:08] <Spiritcurse> I turn around, and stare at the fist gliding a few feet past my head. "I'm down here."
[23:10] <Spiritcurse> On a whim, I turn the page upside down and squint a little. "Spell monkey! Cast that reading spell on me."
[23:11] <Dorian> "Can I stab him now? We wouldn't even need to bury him."
[23:11] <GC> "Only if you ask nicely".
[23:11] <GC> "We ARE in a crypt..."
[23:11] <Spiritcurse> "Pretty please lay that voodoo that you do so well on me."
[23:13] <GC> "Let me look at the book first" saying this I hold my hand out for the book.
[23:14] <Spiritcurse> "Nope." I snatch the book away and take a few steps back."
[23:15] <Spiritcurse> "Anyway, I can decipher that. It's in a Pholtine code, probably one I can read."
[23:16] <@Codex> You find no discernable code.
[23:17] <@Codex> It's a journal of sketches of random things you'd find on your travels.
[23:18] <GC> I punch the moron in the face.
[23:18] <Spiritcurse> While falling, I move my hands together. The paper book and flaming torch react well together.
[23:19] <GC> "All right I'm done, this is my church and we are in a crypt"
[23:19] <GC> I draw my mace and prepare to strike the finishing blow
[23:22] <Dorian> "Honestly, we probably shouldn't kill him.!
[23:23] <Dorian> "He's a xenophobic idiot who's been provoking us repeatedly, but he's not a bad person."
[23:23] <GC> Just before bringing the mace down I tense and stop, I growel, "BLAST IT YOUR RIGHT!" I throw my hands into the air and go back to the corpse.
[23:29] <GC> I approach the Pholtus worshipper and heal him to the best of my abilities.
[23:31] <GC> "Listen to me, I am sorry that your friend is dead, but your lack of co-operation is hardly justified. He was found ouside of the village by a villager and brought here, we had nothing to do with this so behave yourself".
[23:32] <GC> "In addition he was cursed and as a religious man I am incapable of doing such things".
[23:32] <Spiritcurse> "I'm sure you'll understand my lack of trust. But either way, I was sent to meet this informant, and I ought to report his murder to the temple." I drop the bag and leave.
[23:34] <GC> "Very well, I understand. Let it be known that should you return here again you will not be harmed by a member of my church".
[23:50] <Dorian> "Right, we've got a murder on our hands. Time to find out who did it?"
[23:52] <@Codex> ~~~ End of Session ~~

_+_+_

[21:26] <Codex> Something is strange, in the temple.
[21:26] <Codex> It just doesn't feel quite right.
[21:27] <GC> Noticing this I begin to search the temple for the source of the disturbance.
[21:33] <Codex> There is a distinct quietness about the priests in the temple. In the main chamber, there are three priests, along with the leader of this particular sect of the church.
[21:35] <GC> I approach the leader of the sect, "Sir, have you noticed that there is something different about the church today? something...wrong?"
[21:35] <Codex> "We've found another body, Heveticus."
[21:36] <Codex> "We can't hide it this time. He was a Cleric. Young."
[21:36] <GC> "Who was it, one of the acolytes?"
[21:37] <Codex> "Someone sent from the Church of Pholtus. He... He was so young."
[21:37] <GC> "How...how did it happen? was anyone there?"
[21:39] <Codex> "We just found him, clutching a bag. Back in the fields, Jeraldine found him."
[21:39] <Codex> He shakes his head.
[21:40] <GC> "What was in the bag?"
[21:40] <Codex> "We'll have to ask for help from the nearest city..."
[21:40] <Codex> "We don't yet know. It is magically sealed."
[21:40] <GC> "Where is the body?"
[21:41] <Codex> He points to a small satchel next to the podium, on the ground. It looks very mundane. Infact, the only thing descript about it is that it looks so mundane. Spectacularly so.
[21:41] <Codex> "We've taken him down to the crypt for now, we'll try and contact his loved ones once we get the bag open. If we get the back open."
[21:42] <Codex> The priest shakes his head once more. "I need a drink."
[21:42] <Codex> He turns to the front door and begins to walk out.
[21:42] <GC> I pick up the bag and head down to the crypt, "One of you follow me, if something goes awry I would prefer to have backup".
[21:44] <Codex> The Priests grumble and look extremely reluctant. Now might be a good time to involve the rest of the party.
[21:44] <GC> Before entering the crypt I look towards Bek, "Go get the others girl, go on now".

Codex's totally normal and not at all Hijacked by Divine Caster campaign Empty Re: Codex's totally normal and not at all Hijacked by Divine Caster campaign

Post by DorianCreed Fri May 24, 2013 11:04 pm

[21:42] <@Codex> Realising that you've lost all the clues to your previous idiocy, the party retreats to the tavern. Bertha looks bright eyed and lively behind the bar. "A little early for anything strong, no?"
[21:43] <GC> "After that debarkle, I need a strong one" Saying this I sit at the bar and wait for a drink.
[21:43] <@Codex> "Dwarven Ale, coming up. What about you?" She says to Eddard.
[21:45] <Furious> I look up at the pair, and do a double-take, "Hey, aren't we missing one?"
[21:45] <Dorian> "Lucky for some - I'm technically not allowed to drink. However, give me a Dragonbite Bitter. And yes, we are. He left due to... professional disagreements."
[21:46] <@Codex> The tavern looks mostly empty. When you left, it was unclean, it's only been an hour and half but now it's practically sparkling.
[21:46] <GC> "He cut him to ribbons and I bonked him on the head".
[21:46] <Dorian> "Only a little."
[21:46] <GC> At this I down most of the ale and pass the remainder to Bek.
[21:47] <Furious> My jaw drops. "You killed him? Why!?"
[21:47] <GC> "Calm yourself, we didn't kill him, although we had all right to".
[21:47] <Dorian> "No, no, he's alive. And he insulted our deities, so we had a reason."
[21:48] <GC> "So, what do we do now?"
[21:48] <@Codex> Bertha places a pair of drinks on the bar. "I believe little Big had a bit of a run in with the pair of you."
[21:48] <@Codex> "I wanna collect your tab soon by the way, before you get ran out of town."
[21:49] <GC> "No problem Bertha, Was Little Big the angry dwarf I saw splitting him and the Pholtus scum up?"
[21:49] <Furious> "Ugh... religion." I take a sip from the ale that I've been drinking for what seems like the last few hours.
[21:50] <Dorian> "We shouldn't get run out of town, he's a practicing Pelor cleric and I'm probably heading off soon."
[21:51] <@Codex> "He is indeed." She gestures at the Dwarf at the back of room carrying a rather large Axe. He nods at Bertha, taking a drink and returning to speaking to a deshrivled looking man at his table.
[21:51] <GC> "So how's that head of yours Ron?"
[21:51] <GC> I spin around and look at him patiently.
[21:55] <Furious> I place the ale back. "Yes"
[21:56] <Dorian> "That's not an... you know what? I, too, have had 'hangovers'."
[21:56] <GC> I raise an eyebrow, "That bad huh". "Well, I'm sure some good old fashioned prayor would fix you right up"
[21:56] <GC> I smile broadly and spin back to the bar.
[21:56] <@Codex> Bertha sits down on a stool behind the bar. "Give us a story then."
[21:56] <Dorian> "About?"
[21:57] <@Codex> "Your 'hangovers'"
[21:58] <Furious> I spin around and look at him patiently.
[21:59] <GC> "Last time I woke up with a hangover I was stuck with this mut" I gesture to Bek, "And the orphanage had a distinct excess of blood and an alarming lack of living orphans".
[21:59] <GC> "Still, the church forgives all" I shrug and continue drinking.
[22:00] <Dorian> "You sure? Alright, then." I clear my throat for emphasis, "Way back in the day, before I'd even discovered my Lady Goddess, I was, believe it or not, a fat loner kid who was bullied all the time. So I drunk to forget. One night, I got really drunk, and I mean REALLY drunk. I have no idea what hapenned to this day, but I woke up next morning with the symbol of Istus branded on my chest and half my class beaten senseless at my feet."
[22:01] <GC> "The other half?"
[22:01] <@Codex> "Impressive."
[22:01] <Furious> I roll my eyes as I finish my ale.
[22:01] <Dorian> "Were female. And lying naked around the room. I think, I'm not quite sure."
[22:01] <@Codex> Bertha gives a deep chuckle.
[22:02] <GC> I look into my ale and say in a sulky voice, "My story's better".
[22:02] <@Codex> "One time, I was captured by Slavers. I convinced the Ogre that if I beat him in a drinking contest I could walk free." Bertha pauses. "I drank him to the ground and ran back here. I needed divine intervention." Bertha Grins at the Cleric. "Your brother's magics are strong. Grog is not fit for consumption. I only sell it on special occasions now."
[22:03] <GC> I look up and smile "That they are".
[22:03] <Dorian> "That is pure genius. I bet the slavers were surprised at that."
[22:03] <GC> I proceed to down most of another pint, repeating the usual procedure of getting my dog drunk.
[22:04] <@Codex> The Dwarf from earlier stands and waves Eddard over. "You, roughian from earlier! Come 'ere!"
[22:05] <Dorian> I sigh, down the last of my drink, and stand up, walking over.
[22:05] <@Codex> "Y'ere decent with a blade, no?"
[22:06] <@Codex> The deshrivled man at the table with the Dwarf shys away from your presence.
[22:06] <Dorian> "I'm pretty good. I don't mean to brag or anything, but I did graduate top of my class at Gaenmoor University."
[22:07] <@Codex> "Are ye' and your friends up fer' a job?"
[22:08] <Dorian> "Sure, why not? We get paid, right?"
[22:08] <Furious> I walk over to them. "Did someone say something about being paid?"
[22:08] <GC> I enter, "Does it involve burning heretics?"
[22:08] <@Codex> "A Dwarf always pays handsomely and honourabley." Little Big straightens himself up, puffing out his banded mail chest.
[22:09] <Dorian> "Then I shall always do business with the Dwarven race, my good sir."
[22:09] <Furious> "Well you can count me in then, what did you say the job was again?"
[22:10] <GC> "Myaa, fine, I'm in too".
[22:10] <@Codex> "This man 'ere." Big pats a small, malnurished and ragged man hard on the shoulder, causing him to buckle. "Says there's a slaver scoutin' party on the road."
[22:10] <Dorian> "And we want them dead, right?"
[22:11] <@Codex> "Dead, Off the road, scared to come back, reasoned with, I don't give a damn."
[22:11] <Dorian> "Dead it is."
[22:12] <Dorian> "Slavers get no mercy, save that which the afterlife provides."
[22:12] <@Codex> "As long as they don't come back here. We've had an agreement with them for time, sayin' tha' we don't have enough people for them te' take without killin' this 'ere town."
[22:12] <@Codex> The Dwarf pulls out a scroll. "Ye' sure ye' can take a slaver scoutin' party?"
[22:13] <Dorian> "There'll be, what, five of them? All human and in leather armour at best? Maybe a tad of chain amongst them, but not one decent sword in sight? We can take them."
[22:13] <Furious> "How hard can it be?" I say as I strike a pose with my hands on my hips, looking up magnificently.
[22:14] <@Codex> "The slaver scouts are nea' good fighters... But they're quick. Quicker than any damned horse that'll come out of this village at any rate."
[22:14] <Dorian> I reach over and slap Ron on the head, "Stop that, you look like an idiot."
[22:15] <Dorian> "So not human, then."
[22:15] <@Codex> "They're devious and they donea' mind coming back an' slittin' yer throat in yer' sleep."
[22:16] <GC> "My bedchambers are currently an inferno, I'd like to see them try".
[22:16] <@Codex> "Right."
[22:16] <Dorian> "Erm... what?"
[22:17] <Dorian> "You DO realise that people put fires out, right?"
[22:17] <GC> "Deduction, I have books next to the fire, I left it on when I left. It probably is on fire by now".
[22:18] <Furious> "People, people, people, we're wasting valuble money making, er, slaver killing time."
[22:18] <GC> "You seem to be implying that they bother to check my room for fires anymore, usually they just open it every evening and throw a bucket of water in there".
[22:18] <Furious> I facepalm
[22:19] <GC> "Yes, you are right my sore faced companion, let us be off".
[22:19] <Dorian> "Istus be damned, FINALLY!"
[22:19] <GC> As I make for the door I say to the others, "Lets do it right this time".
[22:20] <Dorian> "Agreed." I grin, and head round the back of the tavern, retrieving my horse. "Lets."
[22:20] <@Codex> "I see that ye' might... need some help. I don't have any to give ye' so you'll have to make this on yer' own. I'll be several miles south of this town and according to my informant 'ere..." He folds out the scroll he withdrew earlier. "The slaver party should be scoutin' around here." He jabs a chubby Dwarven finger at the north side of the village, on the road that you came in on.
[22:23] <Dorian> "Good to know, thank you." I turn to Haveticus and Ron, "Get the cart! We're going hunting."
[22:24] <@Codex> "'ave fun!" The Dwarf yells, picking up his Axe. Bertha waves. "You better live, I want paying!"
[22:24] <GC> I get in the cart and wait for the others.
[22:25] <Furious> I enter the cart too, pondering over what the dwarf said about us needing help.
[22:26] <Dorian> I set off, riding at about walking pace for a donkey.
[22:27] <GC> "Lets be off then", I follow Eddard.
[22:27] <@Codex> Heading up the road and back over the hill away from this village, the road looks completely empty as far as you can see.
[22:30] <Dorian> I keep heading in the direction the Dwarf specified.
[22:30] <Furious> "...This isn't like me, but I hope we aren't getting in too deep here." I say to the cleric.
[22:32] <GC> "If we are, we die, there's nothing else to it". I look at him, smile, then look back to the road. scanning the trees for figures.
[22:32] <Dorian> "Very profound, for a Pelor worshipper."
[22:33] <@Codex> The Cleric spots something moving within the bushes about 10 meters infront of the cart.
[22:34] <GC> "Stop!"
[22:34] <GC> "There's something up ahead".
[22:34] <Dorian> "Hmm?" I stop, and draw my sword, "What is it?"
[22:35] <GC> "A figure, about 10 meters ahead, Other than that I don't know. Be careful".
[22:36] <@Codex> The Cleric hears a strange sound. It sounds like something... tightening?
[22:37] <GC> "I can hear something, It sound's like something being tightened, a trap maybie?"
[22:38] <Dorian> My eyes widen, "GET DOWN!" I then proceed to throw myself off my horse.
[22:38] <@Codex> The twang of a bow string goes off. As it wizzes past the Swashbuckler's ear, the Cleric hears a man grunt and mumble from the bush. "Roll Initiative."
[22:40] <GC> I stumble out of the cart and collapse in a heap on the floor.
[22:40] <GC> Wide eyed I quickly begin to stand up and ready for battle.
[22:42] <Furious> I jump off the back of the moving cart and flamboyantly stand up and draw my rapier.
[22:44] <GC> "I look around, HOLY CRAP, WHERE'S MY DOG!?!"
[22:44] <@Codex> Two men with raipiers leap from the bushes towards the cart, they move with almost inhuman speed. The bowman is now stood behind on the bushes, taking aim and knocking another arrow.
[22:47] <@Codex> An arrow is lodged into the Cleric's shoulder. The arrow feels... serrated.
[22:50] <Furious> I run towards the archer with my rapier drawn and slash at him with it.
[22:55] <@Codex> A slaver with a raipier runs to Eddard and makes a very fast but ultimately too wild of a stab at him.
[22:56] <@Codex> The second runner does the same, as Eddard skillfully ducks under the blade.
[22:56] <Dorian> I turn to face the first one, set my stance, and swing my sword at his face, dealing a rather satisfying cut to the cheek.
[22:58] <@Codex> A large man stomps out of the forest. He looks at least half Ogre. He looks up the party members. "The Horse and the pretty one." He points to Ron.
[22:59] <@Codex> This man then draws an extremely large Bastard Sword and stomps forwards to the 'pretty one'.
[23:00] <@Codex> The man's swing, like his allies, is far too slow to make contact. It is easy to dodge his large and untrained swing.
[23:01] <@Codex> The bushes a little while off into the forest rustle loudly.
[23:01] <GC> "THERE ARE MORE OF THEM!!!" I shout over the sound of fighting.
[23:02] <GC> "IN THE BUSHES!!!"
[23:05] <GC> I point my hand at the big one and attenpt to incapacitate him, unfortunately it has no effect and he is as angry as ever.
[23:06] <@Codex> The Archer takes a step back and looses and arrow towards Ron which connects viciously. He then drops his bow and draws a nasty looking dagger.
[23:08] <Furious> I scream in pain as the arrow hits me. "Oh, you'll pay for that" I say, as I step forwards and swing at him again.
[23:11] <@Codex> Your blade connects strongly, he doesn't look like he'll take another hit like that.
[23:12] <@Codex> Swinging a blade, one of the quick fighters armed with a rapier takes a swing at the Crusader and actually connects.
[23:14] <Dorian> I turn to him, smile sweetly, then bring my sword down straight at his head, cleaving him in twain.
[23:15] <@Codex> The light fighter next to him hestitates before taking a swing at the apparently beastly Crusader.
[23:16] <Dorian> I raise an eyebrow as the blade bounces off my armour, "Seriously? That all you got?"
[23:18] <@Codex> The large man assaulting the 'pretty one' turns to see his subordinate in half. "Grab 'em and go!" He shouts.
[23:22] <Furious> I slide out of the way of the large hands flying towards me. "Woah there big boy let's not rush things here!"
[23:26] <GC> After my recent failure at stunning the big one, I go for the next best thing. I make our fighter bigger, of course, that makes perfect sense.
[23:27] <Dorian> "Well, this is... fun. Time to annihilate things."
[23:29] <@Codex> The Archer turns and runs, picking up his bow on the way. "Run Boss, they're too strong!"
[23:33] <Furious> I look around for the nearest tree and attempt to remove myself from the vicinity of the big guy by climbing it.
[23:37] <Furious> From atop the tree I shout, "Try to grab me down ya big bastard!"
[23:37] <Dorian> I take a small step away from the second melee fighter, ready myself, and run at the big man, screaming a series of vaguely intelligible insults at him and swinging my sword wildly.
[23:40] <@Codex> The man makes a mightly below, enraging and throwing his bastard sword at you like a spear.
[23:41] <@Codex> The Sword flies past you, colliding with your own blade that you swung in response.
[23:41] <@Codex> The man takes a short step backwards
[23:47] <GC> I heal myself a little.
[23:49] <Furious> I jump out of the tree onto the big man's head.
[23:51] <Furious> I pull the arrow out of my shoulder and stab it through his left eye.
[23:52] <Furious> Pulling it out I see the eyeball stuck on the end. I pull a face and throw the arrow away.
[23:53] <@Codex> The man screams like a terrible amount, incredably high-pitched.
[23:54] <Dorian> I grin and charge the man, screaming my assault as I do. My sword becomes a blur as I blitz the man into a pulp, making sure to cut carefully around Ron.
[23:55] <Dorian> I then proceed to check what is left of the corpse.
[23:56] <GC> I get up and hold my wounds closed, "Is that all of them?"
[23:56] <@Codex> Somehow, the note in the man's pocket is not destroyed.
[23:57] <Furious> I find myself sitting on a pile of diced flesh. I scream as I stand up and fall backwards.
[23:57] <Dorian> "Think so." I say, as I lean down and pick the note up.
[23:57] <GC> I go over to help ron up, wincing in the process, "Are you allright?"
[23:58] <Furious> "Of course, no one can defeat the fabulous Ron Johnson!" I say as I return to the same pose as before in the tavern
[23:58] <Dorian> I check the note for anything of use whilst slapping Ron upside his head, thereby healing him somewhat. "No heroics."
[23:59] <GC> I look to the side, sipt some blood on the ground and use the last of my power to sutre the wound closed.
[23:59] <@Codex> The note reads: "He's in the town. He's going to send some fools up past ridge-way. Be there to grab them. Eat this note once you have read it."
[23:59] <GC> I look at the note, "Guess he wasn't hungry".
[00:00] <Dorian> "Huh. Well, there's a traitor in the town and I'd bet platinum to pumice that it's either the Dwarf or that shaking dude."
[00:00] <Furious> "I knew there was something fishy about that informant, and it wasn't his breath."
[00:01] <Furious> "Although it did smell like Bek's backside."
[00:01] <GC> "My money's on the dwarf".
[00:01] <Dorian> "Tell you what, let's keep this to ourselves and do some investigative work."
[00:01] <GC> "Did you see how much that old man was shaking while we were there? he must have been terrified, provided my thoughts are correct".
[00:02] <GC> "Yes, that sounds like a good idea, come on, lets go".
[00:02] <Dorian> "Yes, lets." I clean my sword off before sheathing it, and head back to my horse.
[00:02] <GC> Saying this I climb back onto the cart and turn it around, back towards the village.
[00:03] <@Codex> ~~~End of Session~~~
