Tau what to get

This isn't for me, my friend is starting Tau and he doesn't know what to get. Are they a good starting army for a beginner? What units are handy to have?

Hmmm.... my little brother does Tau so I can offer some good advice...

If he has a wad of cash, get the battleforce, a second squad of fire warriors and battlesuits and a hammerhead..... or just two battleforces

If he is a bit strapped for cash, get two squads of fire warriors and a battlesuit commander and build from there

Some more info based on his budget would be good though ^^

And Tau are a decent army to start with =D

I don't think so, you'll need to buy the battlesuit commander as well as the battleforce

They do, since the fire warriors themselves are kind of shit - dark eldar warriors rip them to bits. Not that there's much else the dark eldar can do.

Indeed, the advantage of FW is that they have relatively long range for normal troops, but battlesuits bring the punch and vodka to the party

Indeed, it's one of the armies that can't rely on troops choices, unlike Orks, Marines, Chaos, and 'Nids.

2 fire warrior squad cos thats the minimum you can have, a HQ NON ETHEREAL!!! and then battle suits both crisis and broadside (the more the better) and 1-2 hammerhead wouldn't be bad either, this is of course if you can afford it
