Re: Lord Of The Rings
On the original topic, I used to play Lotr, don't have the models anymore unfortunately and probably wont be playing it anytime soon since of my new love affair with other wargames.
If your going for tactics, a game I would strongly recommend, is warmachine, it's cheaper to get into and after playing in two tourneys, it definitely beats the experience I've had with LOTR.
If your heart is set on LOTR, then I'm holding nothing against you, personally, I love the LOTR models, especially the Ringwraiths, but it's warmachine with me for tactics. I hope you every bit of good will in starting LOTR, I think your best bet for finding players might be at a Sunday beginner game?

Re: Lord Of The Rings
For cheapness, get Warmachine, Malifaux, wait for us to finish BC (mantic: 100 models for £50), or learn to love casual card gaming.
For goodness, either play 40k as a gam, wait for us to finish BC, or play LOTR. Never played Warmachine, Malifaux didn't appeal to me.
Of course, Necromunda is a good game, and cheap if you have a good bits box and are able and willing to pin/magnetize weapons.
