The warriors may have retained their tubes, I hope so.

Re: New Necron fluff.
The tubes are still there, but they look like they have some kind of green glyphs on them

Re: New Necron fluff.
they are just parts of the model now. No see through green tubes we stick in after painting.
Re: New Necron fluff.
Not impressed, they don't have a warp presence, I much preferred pariahs.

Re: New Necron fluff.
Aye. Pariahs are still missing everywhere i look...
And these necrons are fluffed as using archane power rather then warp power because...you know...necrons have to be the exact same as every other race ¬_¬
Oh and they are merceneries, necron lords have to hire them.
Their fluff:
Crypteks are members of pan-galactic conclaves of technologies whose purpose is to study and maintain the eldritch devices of their race. They are masters of dimensional dissonance, singularity manipulation, atomic transmutation, elemental transmogrification and countless other reason-defying technologies. In many ways, a Cryptek's powers mirror those employed by the psykers of other races, but with a crucial difference; instead of using a mutant mind to channel Warp energies, the Cryptek employs arcane science to harness the universe's fundamental forces. Such power is highly sought after by Necron Overlords, who will meet whatever demands are made by the Crypteks in exchange for their services.

Necron mercenaries... what has become of the silent and sleek automatons that seek only to remove life from the galaxy?

Re: New Necron fluff.
I dont know...I really dont.
Now the necrons are after personal gain and wealth over havesting the life force of the universe out of hatred of the living. They have lost their fear factor completly...
Trazyn the Infinite is a preserver of histories, artefacts and events. In his possession are technologies and relics that are so valuable as to be priceless. Amongst his collection are the fabled wraithbone choir of Altansar, the preserved head of Sebastian Thor, the ossified husk of an Enslaver and a giant man clad in baroque power armour. In such a dangerous galaxy, Trazyn is loath to go out and explore it himself, but with so many exquisite artefacts to see and catalogue, he cannot afford to miss out. As a result he will send out substitutes of himself to do his dirty work. On the battlefield this can become increasingly irritating, as killing what appears to be Trazyn may simply be a Lychguard or a Necron Lord. Meanwhile, somewhere nearby, the real Trazyn is busy smashing his way through his foes to get his metal hands on his latest acquisition.
This is what lords are like now, uniting not for powerful artifacts that makes them stronger, nope. Now they just want "Ooh shiny"

Re: New Necron fluff.
Some things do make a little more sense now that GW has come out open with the necrons today. For example the Ghost Ark (the necron transport) is also a mobile repair centre giving bonues to ressersction rolls. This at least gives a little more of a reason for the necrons to us them right?
Re: New Necron fluff.
Necrons never even needed possessions before. Their technology is the most advanced and they just wanted to cleanse the galaxy, broken army is broken.

Re: New Necron fluff.
Ok. I got White Drawf today and thus now know a lot more about the rules. Let me start with the new version of "We'll be back"
Reanimation Protocols.
Whenever a Necron unit is removed as a casualty, the unit accrues a counter. At the end of a phase, you roll D6 for every counter accrued that phase. On a 5+ you can return a model back to the squad.
As you can see the rule has grown somewhat weaker as its gone for 4+ to 5+ but now happens at the end of the phase rather then turn.
Necron Warrior armour saves are now 4+ rather then 3+, which is now reserved for the higher class of necrons.
Not impressed on that ¬_¬
Immortal guns are now rapid fire rather the twinlinked and the Deathmarker guns are snipers with a range of 24" and rapid fire. The Doomsday ark gun is stated as:
Stationary:
Range:72", ST:9, AP1, Heavy 1, Large Blast
Combat Speed:
Range:24", ST:7, AP4, Heavy 1, Blast.
I wont give all the rules but what do you think of those? The new We'll be back and warrior armour saves make me sad.

And the fact that the guns will get the full Ward-level POWAH doesn't? You have to have trade-offs, all I see as having happened here is that 'Crons have swapped some armour for quite a lot of power.

Re: New Necron fluff.
Perhaps yer...thats true.
One problem with the models being released however is that their is no battle force box. Is it usual for them to be released the month after now or somthing? i remember it used to only be a week after.
Unless the necrons are just keeping the old box set and its being re-released.

Re: New Necron fluff.
Aye, they look a little glassier, and a little cannonier. Like all armies I guess. Then again, the easier things are to kill, the better it is to have lots of them... Bah.
Give me a yell when we get a leak - for all the hate, Ward does have a few interesting ideas, and one day, he might throw out something that impresses me.

Re: New Necron fluff.
You mentioned something about the ghost ark effecting we'll be back rolls? So it's effectively replaced the tomb spyder then?

Re: New Necron fluff.
No, i was wrong on what it does exactly. After reading the battle report, I found that it allows you to roll and return D6 necrons to warrior squads even after the phase that they were slain.
Effectivly means that you have to kill the Ghost Ark to stand a chance of truly putting the necron warriors out of buisness.

So Necrons are still as tough as ever despite their ruined armour save, DO NOT WANT.

Oh for gods...update again.
Destroyers are now jump infantry rather then jetbikes....
Why?

Re: New Necron fluff.
Wow, really what is the point? The Triarch Praetorians are freaking jump infantry, isn't that enough? Since when has anyone been able to carry some massive heavy cannon and be classed as jump infantry?

Re: New Necron fluff.
I honestly dont know. At least having them as jebikes made sense. They are mobile gun platforms-not assault marines!
Re: New Necron fluff.
We has rule leak on 4Chan: http://boards.4chan.org/tg/res/16813867
A couple of my favs:
Any enemy that suffers an unsaved wound from an aeonstave loses the fleet specual rule (if he has it) and has his Weapon Skill, Ballistic Skill, Initiative and Attacks values reduced to 1 for the remainder of the game.
Warscyth: +2 strength, 2d6 armour pen, and power weapon
flayed ones are 13 points each; infiltrate, deep strike, reanimate. 3 attacks base, ws4, t4, s4, 4+ save, i2.
I admit now, some of these rules just result in:
