Especially when you consider the impact a group of assassins can do. Firstly, let's have a look at my base leadership score. Level plus CHA, plus any modifiers. My level is 6, CHA is -1. So we're on 5, not too good. But now let's look at modifiers. Great renown is worth +2. I'm pretty sure I'll qualify for that pretty soon. Fairness and generosity, +1. I can hit that quite easy, the amount I earn. Special power, another +1, I think I've got that. The ability to kill with incredible ease. The negative modifiers (failure, aloofness and cruelty) won't apply - I don't intend to fail, I'm too subtle to be aloof, and I'm looking for evil followers. Who won't care about cruelty, even if they find out.

That's up to 9 already. Now, I don't move around much except on contracts. I've got a base of operations. That's another +2 there. Looking at the chart for 11, that's a cohort level 7 (capped at my level-2, so 4), and 6 level 1s. Now, I intend to buy a few Ioun Stones with my cash from the first (raid|tax collection). For those who don't know, they have effects from not having to eat, to +2 to each stat, to +1 on most checks, to spell absorbing. So I get the CHA boosting one, I've got a guild of 10 (including me). At level 6.

I can have multiple Ioun stones of the same type active, and I can have as many as I like. I can have spells cast to give me bonuses. I can have magical jewellery. I reckon I could get a pretty nationwide assassin's guild by level 8. Reckon I should do it?

As many as you like? Wrong. Ioun stones stop having an effect after the thrid one, I think. Not counting the one you can conceal in a dagger, of course, but you have to be weilding the dagger to get that bonus. There is always a Cloak of Charisma (extra +6 tops) and a tome of whatever (PERMANENT +1 to +5 to any attribute) but those are more end-game items.... that you can probably afford. Shit. Ah, well. Time to gear up the Mages Guild, then. Very Happy

It's gonna be awesome. So yeah, I've apparently got skin made of devil that lets me touch poison onto people. And it's empowered, so a lovely (1d10)*1.5 CON damage.

I have more in the way of 'was the stab supposed to hurt me?' and now have more chance of hitting with my 'boom' Melee attacks.

I reckon your next acquisition rolls need to be on a Ring of Protection, a Cloak of Displacement, and a +2 Mithral Tower Shield. Tower shield should give +6 AC, ring probably around +3, maybe +4. The displacement means that any attack that does hit you has a 50% chance to be negated. Fun times.

Well, displacement means half the time you can never be hit. So, assuming the ring and extra shield make it up to 30 base...

Not being hit can be taken as effective AC Infinity. As in, no matter what you roll, it isn't hitting. So with a 50% miss chance, the effective average AC is (30+Infinity)/2. Infinity/2=infinity.

So yeah, technically infinite AC.

Ring of Shielding
Constant Effect Shield (+4 Shield Bonus to AC, negates Magic Missile)
Cost 2000 (CL 1, SL 1, constant effect x2000)

Ring of Shield of Faith
Constant Effect Shield of Faith (+2 Deflection Bonus to AC)
Cost 2100 (CL 1, SL 1, constant effect x2000, minor material component)

Cloak of Mage Armour
Constant Effect Mage Armour (+4 Armour Bonus to AC)
Cost 2000 (CL 1, SL 1, constant effect x2000)

Total of +10 AC, and negates the need to wear armour. If your current armour is better than +4+DEX AC, don't get the cloak - it doesn't stack. So, Dark, get the ring of shield of faith - your current armour is better, and your current shield is better. My rangery friends, grab yourself the lot - your DEX bonus is probably +4, so your total AC goes to +24. The ring of protection that we all know and love is a deflection bonus, so doesn't stack with the ring of shield of faith.

In short:
Dark, ring of shield of faith.
Anyone else, all three.
Me, ring of feather falling, ring of chameleon power, cloak & boots of elvenkind.

Well, roll 1d20 for each real life week between games. Add 3 to each, then times them by a thousand. Each roll, you can choose to spend or save. If you do one, the other will be completely closed to you. For example, you spend, you can't save a copper. You save, you can't spend a copper. If you get enough, then yes. If you don't, then what kind of d20's have you been using?
